Suwon FC Lee Young-joon will transfer to the Swiss League Grashofer.

Lee Young-joon, a former striker for the U-23 national team, received attention from multiple teams including Europe and the Middle East at home and abroad after impressing in the national team by age.

Rumors of transfers from overseas clubs such as Germany's Schalke 04 and RT Hard as well as K League 1 clubs continued, but Swiss League Grashofer, who hired Jung Sang-bin on loan two years ago, moved quickly shortly after Lee Young-joon's discharge from Gimcheon Sangmu. Lee Young-joon also prioritized entering the European stage for growth. The transfer negotiations proceeded without a hitch.

Following the transfer fee on the 25th, the agreement between the clubs was completed as the Selon clause was reached. While the new sports director Grashofer is serious about recruiting Lee Young-joon as a 21-year-old military veteran, he promised exceptional treatment for players under the age of 21, the highest transfer fee and cell-on.

Lee Young-joon from Sinpyeong High School, who joined Suwon FC on a semi-professional contract at the age of 17 in 2021, made his splendid debut in June of that year when he was in high school at the age of 17 years, 9 months, and 22 days, as the youngest player to play in the match against Incheon. After scoring one assist in 13 games in the first season and one goal and one assist in 16 games in the 2022 season, he joined Gimcheon Sangmu and scored three goals and two assists in 13 games last season and one goal in eight games this season.

His performances in the national team by age were outstanding. Kim Eun-joong led the team to the semifinals of his dream by scoring two goals in all seven games as captain during the semifinals of the U-20 World Cup, and he also played as a troubleshooter in Hwang Sun-hong's U-23 Asian Cup with his three-year-old seniors, impressing European scouts.

Lee Young-joon, who was recognized as an all-weather one-top striker in the national team by age but has not yet been verified at the senior national team level, took a realistic route through the challenge of the Swiss League mid-ranking team. He also presented his team Suwon FC with a solid transfer fee. The Swiss League is a league that is drawing attention in the European big leagues, and Park Joo-ho also advanced to Mainz and Dortmund in the German Bundesliga thanks to his performance in Basel between 2011 and 2013.

Grashofer, based in Zurich, Switzerland, was founded in 1886, and is a team that won 27 Swiss Super League titles, including 2002-2003 Jison, with masters such as Roy Hodgson (1999-2000) and Thorsten Fink (2018-2019). After winning the Challenge League in the 2020-2021 season and being promoted to the Super League, he has steadily continued to be in the middle.

If both teams sign the transfer agreement, Lee Young-joon's transfer process will be completed. The Swiss Super League has already opened, followed by a 1-2 defeat in Lugano on the 21st, a home game against Luzerne on the 28th, and Basel on the 4th of next month. Lee Young-joon left the Suwon FC squad on the 26th for Switzerland on the weekend, and is expected to play in the league as soon as possible after a medical test.
