Former Tottenham striker Stephen Verwein (27, Ajax), who succeeded in reviving the hometown team, is very popular in the transfer market.

The Dutch newspaper 'The Telegraph' reported on the 13th (local time) that Verbine is currently attracting the attention of multiple clubs in the Olympique de Marseille, West Ham, and Saudi Arabia.

The media outlet said "Verwein is vacationing in the south of France and thinking carefully about his future. He spoke with Ajax manager Francesco Parioli on the 12th, who wants to leave the winger behind, but he also understands that the player wants to take a new step. Two anonymous Saudi clubs have reached out to Berwein's agent Nathan Van Couperen, while Marseille and West Ham have also expressed interest," he said.

Based on information from Ajax insiders, "The Telegraph" will include Verwein in a huge plan, but the coach knows that Verwein is a player of high transfer value, just like Brian Broby, Jorrell Harteau, and Guénez Taylor. Ajax needs to sell players to reinforce their power in various positions, and they want 25 million euros to 30 million euros (about 37.3 billion won to 45 billion won) for Verbine.

The media wrote that Verbain's transfer fee is too high for Marseille, and that West Ham must solve the financial fair play problem in order to recruit him. "The move to London looks interesting. Verbain stayed there for Tottenham." Berwein, a former PSV Eindhoven player, joined Tottenham in 2020 and played 83 games, including the Cup, in two and a half seasons until the summer of 2022 to score eight goals.

Tottenham had a promising Verbain with Son Heung-min as a well-intentioned rival and fellow striker, spending a huge £26.7 million, but the recruitment failed. After being reduced to a backup under then-manager Antonio Conte, he returned to Ajax for 3.125 million euros in 2022. Berwein later gave an interview in which he shot Conte, saying, "If you don't give me a chance, I can't show my skills."

Verbine succeeded in reviving with 16 goals in the 2022-2023 season and 13 goals in the 2023-2024 season at Ajax. He also visited Euro 2024 as a member of the Dutch national team. Verbine seems to regard this summer as a great opportunity to challenge the bigger stage again or get oil money.
