'Ah!0,04 seconds', believed Hwang Sun-woo, 9th place in the 200m freestyle semi-final line - Kim Woo-min 12th place...a run to the final

"Ah, 0.04 seconds"Swimming Monster"Hwang Sun-woo (21, Kangwon Provincial Government) failed to advance to the final round of the Olympics for the second consecutive time in his main event of 200m freestyle.

Hwang Sun-woo failed to advance to the final round of the men's 200m freestyle semifinals at the Paris Olympics at 3:46 a.m. on the 29th (Korea time), ranking ninth overall among 16 athletes.

Hwang Sun-woo, who reached the semifinals in fourth place overall with a time of 1:46.13 in the preliminary round, received a lane 5 of Group 1. Kim Woo-min (23, Gangwon Provincial Government) also received the semi-final line in Group 1 with a time of 1:46.64, 12th overall. It was also the first time in Korean swimming history that two athletes won quotas in one event, and the first time that the two athletes advanced to the semifinals side by side. While I was away, I was aiming for the final round together.

Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min's 1 trillion won was followed by Lucas Martens, the British ace, Matthew Richards, the American ace, Luke Hobson, and the Lithuanian strongman.

Hwang Sun-woo finished first in the first 100m overall, but fell back in the 100-150m section in the second half, ranking fifth with 1:45:92 and Kim Woo-min ranked sixth with 1:46:58. Hobson ranked first to fourth with 1:45:19 and Martens with 1:45:36, Danas with 1:45:48 and Richaz with 1:45:63.

In the second group of the semi-final, aces such as David Popovich, Duncan Scott and Maximilian Giuliani came forward one after another, making them nervous. It was a semi-final, but it was a fierce war that was almost like a final. Popovich led the race and ranked first in the group with a record of 1:44:94, while Japan's Katsuhiro Matsumoto recorded 1:45:88 and eighth overall, pushing Hwang Sun-woo to ninth overall by 0.04 seconds. It was a shocking result. Kim Woo-min unfortunately missed the final round in 12th place.

'Doha Defending Champion" Hwang Sun-woo was a leading candidate for a medal in the 200 m freestyle event. The U.S. swimming media 'Swimswam' predicted gold, silver and bronze medals for Popovich and Martens in the 200m freestyle.

Hwang Sun-woo was committed to adjusting his pace with the determination that he would surely shake off the disappointment of missing the medal due to his qualifying over-face even though he had a medal record at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. In fact, since Tokyo, Hwang Sun-woo has never missed a medal in the 200m freestyle at all major competitions he has competed in. He won a silver medal with a time of 1:44:47 at the 2022 Budapest World Championships, a bronze medal with a Korean record of 1:44:42 at the Fukuoka World Championships last year, won his first three consecutive medals with a time of 1:44:75 at the Doha World Championships in February, and won the gold medal with another Korean record of 1:44:40 at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year. The only individual Olympic medal I didn't have has stopped dreaming.
