The Asia E-Sports Industry Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the center) announced that it will actively support e-sports competitions on campus by selecting middle and high schools within Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Organized by the Asia Esports Industry Support Center and hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City, the project was aimed at spreading positive awareness of e-sports in the region and encouraging a healthy game culture for students.

Kim Hyun-woo, head of the Asia Esports Industry Support Center (Chosun University's External Cooperation Agency), said "It was designed to convey the educational value of e-sports to youth amid the rapid growth of the e-sports industry. E-sports is attracting attention as an activity that can develop strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills beyond simple games"In order to emphasize this positive aspect, the Asian Esports Industry Support Center plans to enter the school and aim to experience e-sports competitions to improve awareness for school teachers, and to provide support to students to develop various abilities." He then stressed that "I hope that through this support, students can enjoy e-sports, which has grown into a sports event, in a healthy way, and develop various capabilities through this."

Fifteen middle and high schools in Gwangju are eligible for the support, helping to operate e-sports competitions on campus held by each school. It includes support for the operating expenses of the competition, rental of professional equipment, technical support, and lectures by e-sports experts. Through this, students will be able to enjoy the competition in a smoother and professional environment.

Prior to the project, the center said it supported the in-school e-sports competition on a trial basis, and both the students and teachers who participated responded greatly.

An official from the center said, `It was good to develop a sense of cooperation with friends and learn how to think strategically through e-sports competitions in the school, and many students responded that they would like to have more opportunities like this in the future.' In addition, teachers who have experienced e-sports competitions were able to communicate with students in a new way through the e-sports competition. Seeing students cooperate and solve problems through games, I came to realize the educational value of e-sports anew", "At first, I had a negative view of e-sports, but I changed my mind when I saw how passionately students participated and grew through the competition" responded positively, according to the center.

The support project, designed to develop e-sports culture in Gwangju, will be expanded to other regions in the future.
