In 2024, the Hope Expedition left the country to climb Mount Linzani in Indonesia.

The 2024 Hope Expedition, which consists of a total of 15 disabled people from the Korea Association for the Disabled and a mentor to police officers from the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency, has launched a challenge to Mt. Linzani (3,726m) in Indonesia for a six-day visit from the 28th. Mount Linzani, located in the northern center of Lombok Island, is the second highest mountain in Indonesia and has been sacred by the natives and mountaineers of Lombok. 'Active Volcano' It is a popular mountain among trackers around the world thanks to its unique beauty. Climbers say that the more non-disabled people climb to the top of the mountain, the less breath they have and it is difficult to continue sliding into volcanic ash.

Jung Sang-min (Seoul), one of the disabled members who joined this time, accompanied him for the first time in 17 years after climbing the Himalayas of the Hope Expedition in 2007. "I hope it will be a meaningful time to go back to the beginning and take care of your body and mind." expressed his feelings. Yoo Seong-kyung (Paju) said, "I like to climb mountains, but I'm scared and excited because it's my first time climbing a mountain abroad together." and added, "I've only seen and heard the activities of the Hope Expedition in newspapers or TV, but I'm happy to participate as a member. I prepared every weekend by taking care of myself," he said, expressing anticipation. Lee Byung-guk (Seongnam Jungwon Police Station) said, `We will do our best to make this hike a moving hike that can give hope and courage to many people with amputations.'



Photographer Kim Young-bok, who is a living witness of the Paralympics and has recorded the entire history of the Hope expedition on camera, said, `There are many things I really feel while photographing the moment when disabled and non-disabled people are together. Again, I will put every single shot of the disabled's strong challenge into the lens, he vowed.

Kim Jin-hee, president of the Korean Association for the Patriotic Martyrs, said "This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Hope Expedition." Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we went on an overseas expedition for the first time in five years. The Hope Expedition, which began its ascent in the Himalayas in 2007, has given a message of hope and challenge by climbing the summit of Mt. Baekdu, the mountain of the people, Chechengung in Mongolia, and Mount Kinabalu (4100m), the highest peak in Southeast Asia, in 2017, and climbing Kilimanjaro (5984m), Tanzania, the highest peak on the African continent.
