San Diego Padres Kim Ha-sung showed explosive base running and recorded multiple on-base hits and multiple stolen bases.

Kim Ha-sung played as the eighth shortstop in an away game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, the scheduled site of the All-Star Game, on the 4th (Korea time) and scored one hit and one run in three at-bats. San Diego won 6-4 thanks to Kim Ha-sung's tying score.

Kim Ha-sung showed his galloping instinct from his first at-bat.

In the top of the second inning, when it was 0-0, he hit an infield hit with two outs and a first base to lead the opportunity to the first and third bases. After a full-count battle with Texas starter John Gray, he pulled a 95.3 mile fastball that flew into the middle of the seventh pitch and hit a strong ground ball between the third and shortstop. Shortstop Corey Seager caught it in reverse motion, but Kim Ha-sung passed through first base. At that time, first baseman David Peralta ran to an empty third base and was safe.

Kim Ha-sung then succeeded in stealing second base at the first pitch in Kyle Higashioka's at-bat, recording his 16th stolen base of the season. It was recorded that Kim Ha-sung succeeded in stealing his 16th base by running to second base in the eighth inning against Texas the previous day, but a day later, he was corrected to 'Ignorance' and became a steal without it. San Diego, which had a chance to get on the second and third bases with two outs due to Kim Ha-sung's stolen base, failed to score as Higashioka stepped down with a fly ball to the second base.

Kim Ha-sung hit a fly to center in the fourth inning, trailing 2-3. He hit a 93.7 mile fastball in the middle of Gray's first pitch with one out, but the ball, which flew at 98 miles, was caught by center fielder Leody Taveras at a distance of 364 feet.

In the sixth inning, trailing 3-4, he went out as a leadoff hitter and got on base with a pitch that hit his body, and then stole a base. In one ball, right-hander Jose Leclerc's second pitch 93.4 miles sinker flew toward his body and brushed Kim Ha-sung's uniform, which pulled his waist back. Kim Ha-sung's sprinting instinct was immediately demonstrated. As soon as Higashioka struck out swinging on an 83.2 mile slider, he quickly ran to second base and was safe with headfirst sliding.

It is the second time this season that Kim Ha-sung got a dune after the LA Dodgers on May 13, and the third time this season after the Toronto Blue Jays on April 22 and the Cincinnati Reds on May 24.

Kim Ha-sung then dug home when leadoff Luis Arraez hit left-handed to tie the score 4-4. As soon as Araez hit, Kim Ha-sung, who had already started with third base, avoided behind his back and reached home with ease as the ball flew toward him.

San Diego, however, failed to turn the tables after Manny Machado, a two-out runner and runners on first and third, retired on a catcher fly after a neck-and-neck race to the ninth pitch with opposing Dane Dunning.

With San Diego taking a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning with David Peralta's two-run home run to the center, Kim Ha-sung struck out swinging. Kim Ha-sung, who took the batter's box for the fourth time as Peralta's next batter, misled the bat on Dunning's 5th pitch, 88.8 miles high sinker.

With this, Kim Ha-sung marked a batting average of 0.227 (67 hits in 295 at-bats), 10 homers, 38 RBIs, 46 points, and 47 walks, and increased his stolen base to 17 to tie for seventh in the NL. In addition, the on-base percentage was 0.335, the slugging percentage was 0.383, and the OPS was 0.718.

San Diego, which lost its second consecutive game, retook the second wild card spot by marking 47 wins and 43 losses and maintaining second place in the NL West. On the same day, the St. Louis Cardinals lost 4-5 to the Pittsburgh Pirates and fell to third place in the wild card.
