Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man said this about the selection of left-hander Lee Seung-hyun (22) as MVP candidate for the 2024 KBO League in June. Coach Park said "It's not weekly, it's monthly, but he did a great job. The player who really played a big role in the team's selection team..." he praised.
During the month of June, Lee performed brilliantly. Three out of five games were decorated with quality starts (more than six innings as a starter, less than three earned runs). He faithfully played his role as a starting pitcher, pitching two runs or less in both games, in which he recorded five innings. Lee Seung-hyun is the only Korean pitcher to be nominated for MVP in June, and will compete with Kyle Hart (NC), Aaron Wilkerson (Lotte), and Ariel Furado (Kium) for the prize.

The match against KIA, which was caught after extra blood a day ago. Lee Seung-hyun got off to a difficult start as he got solo shots from the first batter Kim Do-young in the top of the first inning and Kim Tae-gun in the top of the second inning, respectively. In the top of the third inning, he gave up a timely hit to Socrates Brito with one out and runners on the first and third bases. As the number of pitches increased rapidly, it seemed to be pushed to a situation where it was difficult to fill five innings. However, Lee Seung-hyun overcame the crisis with a strikeout and a runner on the first and second bases with one out in the fourth inning, and did his part by coming down the mound without a run in the fifth inning with two outs and runners on the second base.
Samsung's batters also responded to Lee Seung-hyun's efforts. After Kim Heon-gon's solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning, Jeon Byung-woo made a timely hit in the first and second base chances caught by Lee Sung-kyu's hit and Ryu Ji-hyuk's pitch after one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. KIA had a strong chance to replace starter Cam Aldred early, but Samsung succeeded in turning the game around with consecutive hits by Kim Heon-gon and Koo Ja-wook.
