Jamsil Main Stadium has been confirmed as a substitute for Jamsil Dome Stadium. It will be built with 18,000 seats on the first and second floors.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that it will use Jamsil Main Stadium as an alternative baseball stadium for the LG Twins and Doosan Bears to use while building a new dome stadium on the site of the existing Jamsil Baseball Stadium.

Doosan and LG will use Jamsil Baseball Stadium until the 2026 season and play at an alternative baseball stadium for five seasons from 2027 to 2031.

The main stadium track and soccer field will be replaced with a professional baseball field in accordance with the KBO manual. Some of the interior spaces will be remodeled as dugouts and player support spaces.

He explained that the reason why only 18,000 seats were used in the main stadium, which has 60,000 seats, is a result of taking into account the average number of visitors to professional baseball. Initially, 10,000 seats were mentioned for the safety of visitors due to restrictions on travel passages, raising concerns in the baseball community. After collecting opinions from the baseball community, the Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to expand the number of seats to more than 30,000 by opening the third-floor spectators' seats in major games and postseason on the premise of future measures to check the safety of visitors. Both clubs and the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) plan to systematically establish safety management measures and operating systems for visitors and consult with the city to ensure the safety of visitors.

For safety and smooth entry and exit, the flow of visitors has also been expanded.

By adjusting the construction area north of Jamsil Sports Complex, an additional east entrance and exit in the direction of Baekje Gobun-ro was secured by setting up a west entrance and exit in the direction of Bongeungyo Bridge.

The number of sidewalks will be expanded to the west, and a separate walk-only passage will be installed on the east entrance and exit, separated from the Olympic-daero underground section and the construction area of the Jamsil Sports and Meis complex development project.

It costs 30 billion won to 40 billion won to create an alternative stadium. The city will discuss cost preservation measures with the two clubs, including adjusting commercial advertising fees.

Since October last year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been discussing alternative baseball stadiums through a total of five TF meetings, on-site inspections, and working-level consultations with KBO, Doosan, and LG clubs.

Jamsil Dome Stadium, part of the 「Jamsil Sports and MICE Complex Development Project" conducted by private investment, will open in March 2032. It will be built with a size of more than 30,000 seats that can attract international games with a closed structure rather than an open-close structure.

KBO President Hu Jie-yeon expressed his gratitude on behalf of the baseball community to those who worked together to solve the challenges in Seoul"We will do our best to create a safe and pleasant viewing environment for baseball fans in cooperation with the club, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and related organizations."."
