Shirakawa and Balazovic posed for a photo during a photo session prior to the game against Samsung held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium on the 12th. Standing in front of the dugout at first base with Doosan's uniform, the two players took pictures with Hearts in a fighting pose, followed by individual shots.
When asked for a heart pose, Balazovic felt awkward as if he had never done a 'K heart' pose where he made a heart with his fingers. Even when he changed his pose, he responded actively to the report, asking whether he should smile or pose with a serious expression.
Doosan quickly recruited Balazovic to fill the vacancy of Alcantara, which served as the first starter. Balazovic was drafted by Minnesota as the 153rd overall pick in the fifth round of the Major League Rookie Draft in 2016, and made his major league debut last year and appeared in 18 games with a 1.44 ERA with 1 win and 2 holds. This season, he pitched in 24 games for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints under Minnesota with a 5.60 ERA with 5 wins, 4 losses and 3 holds.
Shirakawa was hired by Doosan as a substitute for Brandon Waddell. In May, he signed an alternative foreign player contract with SSG for six weeks and a total of 1.8 million yen (about 15 million won) on behalf of Adonis Elias, and Doosan, where Brandon Waddell was injured, signed a second KBO league contract with Shirakawa for six weeks and a total of 4 million yen (about 34 million won).
Shirakawa and Balazovic will start side by side against Samsung in Jamsil on the weekend. The video captured the photo time of the two players.
