'High school student genius' Yang Min-hyuk (18, Kangwon) proved himself why Tottenham wanted him with his strong performance against Jeonbuk.

Yang Min-hyuk scored the first goal in the 32nd minute of the first half in the 25th round of 'Hana Bank K League 1 2024' against Jeonbuk at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th at Gangneung Stadium.

Yang Min-hyuk, who was handed Cho Jin-hyuk's pass, shook the net with a sharp right-footed shot that stabbed the top right of the goal in front of Kim Jin-soo at the right diagonal point in the penalty box.

Yang Min-hyuk, who scored multiple goals against Jeju in the last round, increased his scoring record to eight goals this season. Home team Gangwon finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.

Yang Min-hyuk's performance continued in the second half. Yang Min-hyuk helped an additional goal in the 9th minute of the second half with an assist to Kim Kyung-min, who was substituted. Yang Min-hyuk's offensive points for the season increased to eight goals and four assists and 12. Tied for fifth place in this category.

Yang Min-hyuk is expected to make his official joining Tottenham on the 28th or 29th. It is reported that medical tests have already been conducted in Korea.

Gangwon was shaken by giving up a comeback goal to Song Min-gyu in the 16th minute of the second half with a 2-0 lead. In the 18th minute, Kim Kyung-min drilled Lee Soo-bin in front of the goal and scored the third goal, but Jeonbuk Kim Jin-kyu scored a sharp free-kick goal in the 25th minute to chase again by one goal.

Yang Min-hyuk was replaced by Song Joon-seok in the 38th minute of the second half and retreated to the bench.

It was rookie Jin Jun-seo who hit the net. In the 40th minute of the second half, Jin Jun-seo opened the Jeonbuk goal protected by Kim Joon-hong with a calm shot in front of the gate and fired his professional debut goal.

Gangwon won 4-2 and won four consecutive games against Jeonbuk.

Gangwon, which won its second consecutive game with overwhelming firepower that poured four goals in two consecutive games after the last match against Jeju, scored 44 points, beating the leader Pohang (44 points), who played one less game, by multiple points and jumping three places from fourth to the lead. Gangwon has 50 goals and Pohang has 38.

It is the first time in 41 days that Gangwon has taken the lead since June 15.

Jeonbuk, which succeeded in rebounding by winning 2-0 at Derby by Ulsan and Hyundai, sought to win two consecutive games by putting in the newly recruited Lee Seung-woo, but failed to continue its upward trend. He has continued his winless streak (one draw and four losses) in five consecutive away games.

Meanwhile, Ulsan (42 points), ranked third at the same time, lost 0-1 to Hong Joon-ho in the first minute of extra time in the second half at the Jeju World Cup Stadium, falling into a two-game losing streak. In a free kick situation, Hong Joon-ho caught the ball that hit the opponent's defender's head and cut the net with a right-footed volley that stabbed the top of the goal from a narrow angle on the right.

Jeju, ranked 7th, scored 32 points with the victory, narrowing the gap between sixth-place Seoul (33 points), the last line to advance to the Final A group. It is the first time in a year and nine months that Jeju defeated Ulsan in the league since October 2022. In the previous five games, he had lost five games in a row.
