San Diego Padres Kim Ha-sung promised to take off in the second half with a strong performance over the offense and defense in the last game of the first half.

Kim Ha-sung played as the 6th shortstop in the final game of the first half against the Atlanta Braves at Petco Park on the 15th (Korea time) and recorded 1 hit, 1 point, 1 walk, and 1 stolen base in 3 at-bats. He also made stable plays several times in defense. But San Diego lost 3-6.

Kim Ha-sung was very disappointed that he couldn't score an RBI even though he hit a sharp ball in his first at-bat, but was blocked by the opponent's defense.

San Diego scored the first run with three consecutive hits by Donovan Solano, Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts after one out in the bottom of the first inning, and Jake Cronenworth's groundout continued the chance with two outs and runners on the second and third bases. Kim Ha-sung, who entered the batter's box, drew an 80.1-mile changeup on the fifth pitch of the opponent's left-hander Chris Sale with a ball count of 2B2S and hit a strong ball toward third base. However, Atlanta third baseman Austin Riley blew himself to the right and caught it, quickly got up and threw it to first base to get out Kim Ha-sung. It was a hard hit with a batting speed of 95.2 miles, but luck didn't follow.

The local broadcaster caught third baseman Riley diving. Get up and apologize to deal with Kim Ha-sung. Nice defense by Austin Riley. He saved at least one point with his fantastic defense."

This defense has been selected as the Defensive Play of the Game.

In the second at-bat in the fourth inning, when the score was tied at 1-1, Kim Ha-sung drew a walk and stole a base. Kim Ha-sung, who took the batter's box after the first round, fouled out six or seven consecutive pitches after a close game with Sale and picked up a 95-mile fastball slightly off the low strike zone outside the eighth pitch.

Then, after Jackson Merrill struck out swinging, Kim Ha-sung was safe by running to second base when Sale's changeup in the middle of 88.3 miles penetrated the strike zone. However, Higashioka struck out and couldn't advance further.

However, Kim Ha-sung homered after hitting a hit in the third at-bat. Kim Ha-sung, who entered as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing 1-5, pulled a 95.2 mile fastball, which was low outside the fourth pitch, against left-hander AJ Minter, creating a clean hit between the shortstop and the third baseman. The batting speed was 101.2 miles.

Kim Ha-sung, who advanced to second base with a follow-up hit, homered on Luis Campusano's home run to right-center. Campusano pushed Minter's 94.8-mile high fastball well over the right fence. Kampusano's sixth home run of the season.

Kim Ha-sung stepped down with a fly ball to left field in the fourth at-bat in the eighth inning, trailing 3-6. With one out and runners on first, Joe Jimenez's second pitch 84.4 miles slider was pulled, but left fielder Ellie White caught it on the warning track in front of the fence.

As a result, Kim Ha-sung recorded a batting average of 0.226 (73 hits in 323 at-bats), 10 homers, 40 RBIs, 48 points, 48 walks, 18 steals, a on-base percentage of 0.327, a slugging percentage of 0.375, and an OPS of 0.706 in 97 games in the first half. In the first half of last year, Kim Ha-sung marked a batting average of 0.258, 10 homers, 31 RBIs, 44 runs, 38 walks, 16 steals, and an OPS of 0.760, in 85 games.

San Diego gave up the win by allowing a series of timely hits and home runs in the middle of the game. Atlanta took the lead by beating San Diego starter Randy Vazquez with a left-handed hit in the top of the fifth inning, when the score was tied at 1-1, and Travis d'Arnaud's three-point shot to center in the sixth inning with two outs and runners on the first and third bases.

San Diego followed by two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with Campusano's two-run homer, but Atlanta added a point with Dano's solo shot in the eighth inning to seal the victory.

San Diego, which has slipped to 1-6 in its last seven games, finished the first half with a 50-49 win rate barely over 50%. San Diego, which ranked third in the National League West and fifth in the wild card, is expected to continue its tough fight in the second half of the year.
