The French Sports Minister jumped directly into the water to prove the water quality of the Seine ahead of the Paris Olympics. Less than two weeks before the opening of the Paris Olympics, the water quality problem of the Seine River, where the triathlon and open water swimming events will be held, has been under fire every day.

Sports Minister Amelie Udea Castera, who was born in 1978 as a professional tennis player, a junior champion, entered politics after serving as a senior e-commerce executive after ranking 251st in the senior rankings, was curiously acquired by the Seine River on the 13th (Korea time) wearing a bodysuit alongside Alexi Ankankang, a member of the national team of the disabled who will be the French flag bearer at the Paris Paralympics. Minister Castella slipped while trying to go down the slope along the Seine River and fell into the green mud, but he did not give up and was shown swimming several meters in plain and backstroke. "We said we would be ready, and we were ready. I am pleased to be able to leave this record as a legacy for all the people of the 'Ile-de-France (the capital of France), the French, and the people of the world." After releasing the footage exclusively to the BFM TV crew, Minister Castella released the obtained video on his SNS and kept his promise!' wrote one line down 'Our Paralympic triathlon champion to play as French jockey in Paris 2024' with Ankankang'

The city of Paris has banned access to the Seine since 1923, but has invested 1.4 billion euros to actively clean up water under a thorough plan to use the Seine as a stadium ahead of the first Olympics in Paris in 100 years. At the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, the Alexandre II and Alma bridges of the Seine River will be used as triathlons and open water swimming stadiums.

However, heavy rains in Paris recently caused contaminated wastewater to flow into the Seine River, and E. coli and enterococci above the standard level were detected, raising concerns and criticism about player health and safety. Although the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has announced that events can be held from July 30 to 31 and from August 8-9, the possibility of heavy rain or worsening water pollution cannot be ruled out. There is no officially announced plan B yet.

With the Paris Olympics just around the corner, Minister Castella, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and French President Emmanuel Macron rushed to obtain the Seine, and Minister Castella was the first to implement it. It is the day after the city of Paris said on the 12th that the water quality of most of the Seine River has improved to a level suitable for swimming. Paris City spokesperson Pierre Gabadan told broadcaster RFI that "the Seine River water quality has met the required standards for 10 to 11 days out of the last 12 days. I hope the weather will be a little better, but I'm not worried about the possibility of hosting the tournament." Paris Mayor Hidalgo, who postponed the acquisition due to the parliamentary election on the 23rd of last month, re-announced the acquisition on the 17th immediately after the announcement, and Minister Castella took the lead. France 24 reported that Minister Castella intercepted an opportunity for Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who is notoriously at odds, to be in the spotlight. Now, fans' eyes are on Mayor Hidalgo and President Macron's Seine River relay dive 'certification'.
