The last-place team's winning rate is 44%. How to view this rare situation.

Kiwoom Heroes won 5-4 against the Hanwha Eagles in Gocheok on the 11th with Ronnie Dawson's walk-off hit after extra time. It was a showdown between ninth-ranked Hanwha and 10th-ranked Kiwoom, but the two teams were tight throughout the three consecutive games.

Kiwoom took 'Winning Series', but the 9th and 10th positions remained the same as it failed to overturn the ranking. However, Kiwoom, ranked 10th in last place, has a winning rate of 440%. Kiwoom, which had 37 wins and 47 losses in 84 games until the 11th, has one more win than eighth-ranked Lotte Giants (36 wins, 3 draws, 44 losses).

The difference between the 9th-ranked Hanwha Eagles is not big either. Hanwha has a winning rate of 0.446 with 37 wins, 2 draws and 46 losses. It is so narrow that there is a 1.5 game difference between Kiwoom and the game difference and about 6 ri difference in winning rate.

The gap with the top teams is not that big either. Considering the criteria for success in the season as entering the round of 5, SSG Landers (43 wins, 1 draw, 43 losses, 50% winning rate) currently ranked fifth and Kiwoom ranked 10th are only five games apart. The gap between the sixth-ranked NC Dinos and the first-ranked KIA Tigers (51 wins, 2 draws and 33 losses, 0.607) is also 14 games apart.

This is because it means that 10 teams are closely intertwined in the ranking table at a time when more than 80 games have already been played per team. It's not easy even if you try to make it by force. Usually, there are people who fall behind. In particular, teams in last place often slip as they are after the first half. This is why the lowest-ranking teams cannot easily escape the 30% winning rate.

There have never been so many scary last places in history. It is safe to say that there were few. Except for the two major leagues from 1999 to 2000, Lotte had the highest winning rate in KBO league history in 2001. Lotte ranked eighth among the eight clubs at the time, with the final winning rate reaching 0.457. It's been a tremendous season. Since the semifinal fight, which was the standard for advancing to the postseason at the time, was extremely fierce until the end, five teams, including Hanwha, KIA, LG, SK, and Lotte, had a bloody close race within two games. As a result, Lotte ended in last place, but the winning rate reached the mid-40s.

Even in the early days of the league, there was no other team with such a high winning rate. Since the completion of the current 10 club system in 2015, the team with the highest winning rate was 0.411 recorded by Kiwoom last year. Perhaps this year, the battle for the low-ranking winning rate is expected to be fiercer until the end than last year.

Thanks to this, the league is full of life. Conditions have been created for neither team to give up the season early, and to fight until the end. No. 1 KIA has established a solo system, but it is still fierce from No. 2 to No. 10. The atmosphere of "If you don't give up, opportunities will come" is a great help to the league's box office. It's very interesting.
