When you play 162 games in a season, there are days when you don't get lucky. That was the case for San Diego Padres Kim Ha-sung on the 3rd (hereinafter Korean time).

Kim Ha-sung started as the seventh shortstop in an away game against the Texas Rangers at Globeleigh Field in Arlington, Texas, and had no hits in three times at bat. The 10th consecutive hit streak was over. Although 10 games are not a great number, Kim Ha-sung, who raised his batting sense in the middle of the season, had no choice but to be left with a big regret.

This is because the well-hit ball was blocked, and the opponent's starting pitcher threw the best this season, the so-called 'scratch day'.

Kim Ha-sung, who had a hit streak of nine consecutive games from the Milwaukee Brewers on June 22 to the Boston Red Sox on the 1st, failed to make a hit due to the perfect pitching of opposing Texas starter Nathan Ivaldi.

The most regrettable scene was the moment when the line drive ball was blocked by the Texas infield in the first at-bat and was out.

In his first at-bat in the top of the third inning, trailing 0-3, Kim Ha-sung pulled Ivaldi's 5th pitch 94.3 miles of fastball toward his body and hit a strong line drive toward third base. However, the ball fell to the left side after hitting third baseman Jonathan Ornelas' glove, and shortstop Josh Smith quickly caught it with his bare hands and threw it exactly to first base, and Kim Ha-sung was out by a slight difference.

The batting speed reached 106 miles (171 kilometers). Kim Ha-sung passed through the first base with a safe gesture, but he was out even with the naked eye. The San Diego bench did not apply for the challenge. It could have been an infield hit if it was hit by the third baseman and flowed to the other side or back, not in front of the shortstop. I had to blame the opposing defenders for their calmness and bad luck.

Kim Ha-sung struck out three pitches in his second at-bat in the fifth inning, trailing 0-6. Flipped his bat on an 88.5 mile splitter flowing outside of Ivaldi at Tustrike. It was a fastball that was hard to guess. I was helplessly caught in a perfect ball mix in my heyday. The first 92-mile fastball was put on the low strike zone outside, and the second 94.1 mile fastball was fouled when it penetrated the strike zone on the body. And in the third pitch, the splitter flew into the strike zone outside and fell, and Kim Ha-sung's bat was in vain.

On this day, Ivaldi gave up only one hit in seven innings, struck out seven, and pitched a scoreless game. It is not an exaggeration to say that it was the best throw 'best shot 'Top 5' since its debut in 2011.

Ivaldi has been out of shape lately. He pitched seven innings in an away game against the Milwaukee Brewers on the 27th of last month, the previous back, but he lost five runs on nine hits. Throwing 16 innings in the last three games, he got 17 hits, including four homers, gave up six walks and allowed 11 runs. During this period, he was 1-1 with a 6.19 ERA.

Kim Ha-sung also failed to make a hit in the third at-bat in the eighth inning, when the game was 0-7. Lead Donovan Solano made a right-handed hit from the changed pitcher Jonathan Hernandez to provide an opportunity. Jackson Merrill then struck out swinging, one out and one out. Kim Ha-sung pulled Hernandez's 6th pitch outside 87.3 miles slider with a ball count of 2B2S, but the front runner was out at second base as it slowly flowed toward the shortstop.

As a result, Kim Ha-sung's batting average fell to 0.226 (66 hits in 292 at-bats) and OPS to 0.717. Ten home runs, 38 RBIs, 45 points and 47 points were maintained, and one stolen base was added on the day to record 16 for the season.

San Diego was crushed 0-7 after suffering two hits.
