Recently, international soccer organizations such as FIFA and AFC are actively encouraging the implementation of youth protection policies so that all youth players can enjoy soccer in a safe environment. As a result, the federation has established a new standard of 'Child Safeguarding Officer' within the K-League club licensing regulations starting this year. It is recommended that all K-League clubs designate youth protection officers within their clubs.
The seminar was held to guide youth protection officers on the definition and importance of youth protection. It is the first case among AFC member states.
The seminar was held through an online video conference with 25 youth protection officers from 18 clubs in the federation and the K League. The AFC's Victoria Go was a lecturer. Victoria Go is an employee of the AFC CSR team. It is in charge of policies related to youth protection. At this seminar, he gave lectures on the definition of youth protection, the four representative types of damage to youth abuse, the adverse effects of youth abuse on the entire player's life, and the importance of youth protection. After the lecture, he had a question-and-answer session with the youth protection officers of the K-League club and concluded the seminar schedule.
Victoria Go wrote "Every youth has the right to enjoy football in a safe environment. It is the responsibility of all adults to protect it. The fact that the K-League has planned this seminar under the important theme of youth protection shows that the K-League is working to ensure the safety and welfare of the youth."
A club official who attended the seminar said "Through the youth protection policy emphasized by the AFC and the K League, we once again realized that the current older generation has an obligation to protect and nurture future generations of youth. We hope that young players will be able to fulfill their dreams of becoming soccer players in a safer environment in the future by actively introducing youth protection policies in policies that have been focused on professionals."
