The Korean Sports Council for the Disabled succeeded in hosting the regular general meeting of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2025 in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Korean Sports Council for the Disabled and the IPC signed a hosting agreement through an online agreement ceremony on the 22nd. Chung Jin-wan, president of the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled, and Mike Peters, CEO of IPC, attended the agreement ceremony held online.

The Korean Sports Council for the Disabled retained the legacy of the 1988 Seoul Paralympic Games and actively appealed that Seoul, with the motto of accompanying the weak, is a global city that meets the standards for holding regular IPC meetings such as conference halls, accommodation, immigration, and safety management. In March, the Korean Sports Association for the Disabled submitted an application to the IPC Secretariat for this information and was decided as the final host city, beating all six prominent competitive cities. The regular IPC general meeting in 2025 is scheduled to be held in September 2025 at Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

The Korea Sports Association for the Disabled celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting the regular IPC general meeting in 2025. The IPC regular general meeting is the IPC's top decision-making body held every two years, and the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have already held the IPC regular general meeting once in 2007. In particular, the election of IPC executive members for a four-year term will also be held at the 2025 regular general meeting, which is highly anticipated in terms of sports diplomacy and expanding influence. About 600 delegations from 219 international organizations, including the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), 27 International Federation (IF), the Paralympic Committee (RO) by five regions, and the International Organization for Three Disability Types (IOSD), will participate. In addition, various conferences and cultural events will be held along with the regular general meeting to establish itself as a mega event to publicize the charm of K-sports and K-culture around the world.

Since the successful hosting of the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympic Games, the Korea Sports Association has dramatically attracted votes from Asia, Africa, and South America through the BDH Foundation and the heartfelt ODA (Public Development Assistance) project of Bae Dong-hyun, vice president of Chang-sung Group (head of the Paris Paralympic Games). Chung Jin-wan, Chairman of the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled, said, "It is an honor to hold the regular IPC meeting in Seoul for the first time in 18 years on the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled. We will work closely with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the IPC to prepare well to promote Seoul and the Republic of Korea to the world while creating an environment in which member organizations around the world can participate in the general meeting comfortably." expressed his feelings.

IPC CEO Mike Peters"The Korean Sports Council for Persons with Disabilities submitted a very impressive application for attraction that met the requirements of the IPC and was finally able to be selected"Congratulations to the Korean Sports Council for the Disabled, and I am confident that the regular IPC general meeting in 2025 will be a successful event for all participating member organizations to be welcomed and enjoyed." he said.
