Kim Min-seop entered Group 4-5 in the 200m butterfly qualifying round at La Defense Arena in Paris on the 30th (Korea time). Kim Min-seop passed the first 50m with a time of 25.41 seconds and third place, finished fifth with a time of 29.17 seconds in the 50-100m section, then climbed back to third with a time of 29.95 seconds in the 100-150m section, and finished the last 150-200m section with a time of 31.48 seconds. He came in at 1:56.02, fifth in the group. Alberto Lachetti topped the list with a time of 1:54.78 while Leon Marchamps of France was third with a time of 1:55:26.
While Hungarian world champion Christophe Milak advanced to the semifinals with a time of 1:53.92 and first overall, Kim Min-seop made his first advance to the semifinals, finishing 15th out of 28 players.
