The Korea Boxing Association announced on the 18th that it had decided to join World Boxing, a newly organized international boxing organization, at an extraordinary general meeting of representatives in Ulsan.

This was followed by the International Boxing Association (IBA)'s decision to withdraw from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in April, and the Korea Boxing Association agreed to strengthen cooperation with World Boxing to develop international boxing and maintain boxing's Olympic sports.

In April, the IBA was expelled from the IOC by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the trial of the IOC and the International Boxing Association (IBA) to maintain its qualifications as an international boxing representative body.

Since the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the IOC has blocked the IBA's intervention and directly operated boxing events. And it is known that the newly established World Boxing (WB) to replace the IBA is partially replacing the operation of the Paris Olympics.
