James Paxton, who has been consistently playing rotation in Dodgers uniforms this season, has been kicked out. It can be seen as an expression of willingness to bring in a more powerful starting pitcher.
ESPN reported on the 23rd (Korea time) that James Paxton, a veteran starting pitcher who has instilled a sense of stability in the LA Dodgers rotation with a lot of desperation, was designated for assignment today and that Paxton has led the rotation with a lot of starters on the injured list and little experience.
The Dodgers, which excluded Paxton from the 40-man roster, will call up 25-year-old prospect Lieber Ryan to start against the San Francisco Giants.
Paxton signed an FA contract for a year and $7 million last winter and wore a Dodgers uniform. He pitched 89 ⅓ innings in 18 games, 8-2 with a 4.43 ERA, 64 strikeouts, WHIP 1.46, and a 0.246 hit rate.
It is true that even though it was jagged, it served as a support for the Dodgers' rotation, which began to collapse after the middle of the first half by keeping the rotation steadily.
One starter is regrettable for the Dodgers, but the rotation needs to be sorted out as Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw return from the injured list this week. Glasnow and Kershaw will start against San Francisco on the 25th and 26th, respectively.
Glasnow will return after taking two weeks off from the injured list due to back pain on the 10th, and Kershaw will join the rotation after completing his recent minor league rehabilitation appearance after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder in November last year.
Even if the Dodgers return two veteran starters, the rest of the rotation will still have to be filled by rookie-level players. Ryan is expected to start on the 23rd, and Landon Ngak is expected to start on the 24th. Following Glasnow and Kershaw, Gavin Stone and Justin Roblesky are expected to take the mound as starters against the Houston Astros from the 27th to the 28th.

Paxton played his part as one of the pillars supporting this rotation just before the collapse, but he decided that it was not necessary for the Dodgers' 'big picture'. Now, the Dodgers plan to put Paxton on the trade market over the next few days according to the designation allocation process to recruit quality starters.
ESPN said the Dodgers expect to find a trade partner for Facton at a time when demand for starters is high throughout the league and few clubs are selling players up until the trade deadline.
Local media reported that the high-quality starter captured by the Dodgers was Chicago White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. Crochet turned into a starting pitcher this season and has improved. As of today, he has thrown 107 ⅓ innings in 20 games with 6-6, an ERA of 3.02, 150 strikeouts, WHIP of 0.95 and a hit rate of 0.199.
