LG Twins issued an apology regarding coach Choi Seung-joon's drunk driving.
The incumbent coach who was arrested for refusing to measure alcohol was found to be LG Twins batting coach Choi Seung-joon (36). LG decided to terminate the contract immediately after confirming the fact.

Coach Choi was arrested as a current offender at around 6:30 a.m. the previous day after refusing to request a drunk driving test by a Korean archer who was dispatched after receiving a report of suspected drunk driving in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu. Coach Choi later reportedly admitted to the police that he was drunk.

After this was reported, LG conducted its own investigation and immediately notified the KBO Clean Baseball Center after confirming that it was driving under the influence and decided to terminate the contract.

Coach Choi was a catcher who graduated from Dongsan High School and was nominated by LG in the second seventh round in 2006. Coach Choi, who changed his position to an infielder to improve his batting ability with good power, moved to the SK Wyverns as Jung Sang-ho's FA compensation player after the 2015 season.

In 2020, he will play for Hanwha for the last year and retire. He played in 182 games with a batting average of 240 (110 hits in 459 at-bats) with 31 homers and 82 RBIs.

Choi, who later served as a coach at the baseball academy, returned to his hometown of LG as a coach after nine years this season. As Lee Ho-joon, the first-team batting coach, became the quality control coach, coach Mo Chang-min, who was an assistant coach, became the first-team main batting coach, and Choi helped hit the players as the first-team batting assistant coach.

LG went down to the second division on the 22nd when Kim Jin-sung, a veteran first-team pitcher, posted an expletive on his SNS and criticized the team. Five days later, he issued an apology.

With the team in disarray, the coach drove under the influence this time. In addition, he refused to take a breathalyzer test by the police who were dispatched after receiving a report, and was arrested as a current criminal, degrading the club's reputation.

The coach, who should be an example for the players at a time when the team was ranked second, even refused to measure drunk driving, which should not be done, causing an arrest. LG had no choice but to take strong disciplinary action to raise awareness within the team, and the result was the termination of the contract.

LG issued an apology.

LG Twins sincerely apologize to the fans regarding the drunk driving of coach Choi Seung-joon, a member of the club.

Despite having to take greater social responsibility in an exemplary manner as a coaching staff to guide players, the club deeply feels responsible for managing the squad for causing a stir by driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drunk driving is an offense that cannot be tolerated for any reason or excuse, and the club will take strong disciplinary action and do its best to prevent recurrence in the future.

Once again, I apologize to all the fans who love and support professional baseball.
