The Kyobo Life Cup Dream Tree Sports Festival is the only national youth sports competition held in the private sector. Kyobo Life Insurance has been holding this competition since 1985 to discover and nurture aspiring sports players early and to revitalize basic sports. More than 140,000 players have gone through the tournament so far, and 450 of them have played for the national team. They won more than 200 medals in the Olympics and Asian Games. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the birthplace of a medalist in name and reality.
Kyobo Life Insurance's focus on basic youth sports, not popular sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball, can be found in the extraordinary philosophy of nurturing talent from its founder. Shin Yong-ho, founder of Kyobo Life Insurance in Daesan, created the Dream Tree Sports Festival, saying, `Only by developing healthy physical strength from an early age can character and knowledge grow well.' This philosophy was also passed on to Shin Chang-jae, CEO of Kyobo Life Insurance. At the 40-year Homecoming Day of the Kyobo Life Cup Dream Tree Sports Competition held in April, Chairman Shin personally revealed his thoughts on sponsoring the nation's largest private youth sports competition for 40 years.
He said, `The sports spirit pursued in sports activities is the spirit of fair play that does its best without fouling, the sense of community that puts teams ahead of individuals, respect for all participants, opponents, colleagues, and coaches, and the attitude of patiently and patiently challenging them even if it is difficult.' `We hope that aspiring sportsmen will become true leaders who spread the right sports spirit in our society by always keeping the sports spirit, especially the spirit of fair play, in mind, practicing and growing up.'
Kyobo Life Insurance has also prepared a commemorative project to share the meaning and achievements of the competition with citizens on the 40th anniversary of the Dream Tree Sports Festival. By the end of this month, a pop-up exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Dream Tree Sports Festival will be held at the Gwanghwamun branch of Kyobo Bookstore in Jongno-gu, Seoul under the theme of 「Road to Dream」. In this pop-up, you can see the footsteps of the Dream Tree Sports Festival at a glance through various feed and photos, and decorative dolls and reusable bags are sold as goods. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation.
In addition, during the same period, the Kyobo Life Cup Dream Tree Support Challenge for the whole nation will be held on the Instagram page of the Dream Tree Sports Festival. If more than 1,000 people participate, 10 million won in sports scholarships will be donated to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation for meaningful use.
On the other hand, at the Dream Tree Sports Competition site, a 'Pureumi Mobile Environment Class Experience Event with Octopus' will be held to allow participants to experience and receive education on carbon neutral practices.
An official from Kyobo Life Insurance said, "We will provide support to many participating students to share the sports value of cooperation and challenge beyond competition and victory, and to grow into people with healthy physical strength and wisdom of co-prosperity. Kyobo Life Insurance will continue to work hard to contribute to social development through public utilities in various fields such as sports and education as a leading company in culture and finance."
