The North Korean team will participate in the women's 70kg judo event with one Moon Song-hee (22) winning the right to participate. Moon Song-hee, born in 2002, drew attention by ranking second at the 2019 Asian Youth and Youth Championships, and won a silver medal in the same weight class at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. And he won silver at this year's Hong Kong Asian Championships and ranked ninth at the 2024 Abu Dhabi World Championships. The IJF Olympic ranking is 37th. This is my first time at the Olympics. He was listed as the only participant in the Paris Olympics in North Korea's judo team.
The inter-Korean confrontation failed at this Olympics. As Han Hee-joo (KH Philux Group), a 70kg women's representative, failed to win the Olympics, the Korean judo team has no athletes in the weight class.
Meanwhile, the Korean judo team will compete in the men's 60kg, 66kg, 81kg, 90kg, 100kg or more, women's 48kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 78kg, 78kg or more, and men's and women's mixed team events at the Olympics. Only the men's 73kg class, the 100kg class, and the women's 70kg class did not qualify.
A total of 11 athletes have qualified for the Olympics. Kim Won-jin (Yangpyeong County Office, ranking 23rd) in the men's 60kg class, An Baul (Namyangju City Hall, ranking 13th) in the 66kg class, Lee Joon-hwan (Yongin University, ranking 3rd) in the 81kg class, Han Joo-yup (Hiwon, ranking 24th) in the men's 90kg class, Kim Min-jong (Yangpyeong County Office, ranking 1st) in the men's 100kg class, Lee Hye-kyung (Gwangju Transportation Corporation, ranking 10th) in the women's 48kg class, Jeong Ye-rin (Incheon Metropolitan City, ranking 21st.
In the men's and women's mixed team competition, An Baul (Kim Won-jin), Han Joo-yup (Lee Jun-hwan), Kim Min-jong, Heo Mi-mi (Jeong Yerin), Kim Ji-soo, and Kim Ha-yoon (Yoon Hyun-ji). *Candidate registered players in parentheses above) were listed on the list of participating players.
Starting with the men's 60kg class and the women's 48kg class on the 27th (Korea time), Korean judo will start digging for gold veins.
