The LG club officially announced on the 20th that it signed a contract with right-hander Hernandez for a total of $440,000.
Born in 1995, Hernandez, a Venezuelan national, has a physique of 1m85 and a weight of 97kg. Hernandez, who first entered the big league by signing with the Miami Marlins in the 2018 season, played 32 games (six starts) in the big leagues that year, recording a 2-7 record with a 5.21 ERA with two holds. He played in Miami until the 2022 season as a substitute starter and bullpen, and moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of this season. Hernandez, who moved to the Milwaukee Brewers after taking five appearances (one start) with the Dodgers in the early days of the season with one loss and an 8.38 ERA, went down to Triple-A at the end of June after six innings without losing or losing in four appearances. -
"Hernandez is a complete right-hander with a sharp borderline control and an excellent pitching sense in both fastballs and breaking balls," LG said. "I will join the team during the season, but I look forward to adapting quickly and serving as the first starter."
Meanwhile, LG plans to request a waiver disclosure for Kelly on the 21st. Kelly played for LG in the 2019-2024 season and took off his LG uniform with 73 wins, 46 losses and a 3.25 ERA in 163 KBO league games.
