The Korea Professional Football Federation announced on the 2nd that Yang Min-hyuk was selected as the first round of the '2024 Coupang Play Series' at Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 31st and the team K-League's 'Couple Youngple' to face Son Heung-min's Tottenham.
'Couple Youngple' received 12 players under the age of 22 (U22) who performed outstandingly this season from 12 K League 1 clubs as candidates, and selected them as the players who received the most votes through fan voting in Coupang Play from the 24th to the 30th of last month.
Yang Min-hyuk of Gangwon Province ranked first among all candidates with 20.8 percent of the final vote. Second place was Seoul's Kang Sung-jin with 20.4% of the vote, followed by Daegu Hwang Jae-won (15.2%), Gwangju Um Ji-sung (9.2%), and Jeonbuk Jeon Byeong-gwan (8.2%).
Born in 2006, Yang Min-hyuk is in his third year of high school. He took his first step in K League 1 as a semi-professional player this season, and impressed with his help 35 seconds after his debut from the opening game.
Yang Min-hyuk has played in all games until the 20th round, scoring 5 goals and 3 assists. He broke all records, including the youngest ever appearance, scoring, and helping of the Gangwon club, and switched his contract to an official professional player last month.
Based on these performances, Yang Min-hyuk received the honor of winning the 'Seven Select Young Player of the Month Award' in succession in April and May of this year. Yang Min-hyuk, the top prospect in the K-League, will now play in the team's K-League's 'Couple Youngple' capacity and face Tottenham.
The voting for 'Fan Eleven' to select the best players in K League 1 will begin at 2 p.m. on the 5th. Voting will run until the 14th on the official K-League application 'Kick'.
One goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three strikers will be selected in order of multiple votes. Voting is possible once a day, and if you participated in voting every day during the voting period, you will receive various prizes through a lottery.
