Choi Se-bin lost 11-15 to France's Manon Afish-Brune in the semifinals of the women's sabre individual fencing at the 2024 Paris Olympics held in Grand Palais, Paris, France on the 29th (Korea time). Choi will play the bronze medal match against Olga Karlan of Ukraine.

It was a disappointing game. Choi gained momentum by scoring his first goal against the host country's Apish-Brune. However, he lost five points. He rekindled his momentum. He scored three points in a row and made a fierce chase. After that, they were in a tight race and finished the first period 6-8.

In the second period, Choi Se-bin made consecutive attacks and brought the 8-8 game to square one. But Afish-Brune was strong. He allowed the lead again. Choi continued to chase. maintained a two-point gap. It went to 12-14. However, in the end, he lost by giving up the last score.

Choi Se-bin, who beat Tatiana Nazlymov of the U.S. 15-14 in the round of 32, made an extraordinary breakthrough in the round of 16 by defeating Emura Misaki of Japan, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the world, 15-7. Choi, who was born in 2000 and ranked 24th in the world, won a bronze medal at the Tunis Grand Prix in January this year, becoming the first player to win an international individual competition, winning a landslide victory over Emura, the 2022 and 2023 World Championships winner.

The quarterfinal match was against Ha Young, the youngest member of the women's sabre team. In the round of 32, Jeon defeated Alina Komasichuk (Ukraine) 15 to 8, and in the round of 16, Jeon defeated Nadda Hafez (Egypt) 15 to 7. It was a great match.
