Yong Ho-sung (57, photo), head of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's International Culture and Public Relations Policy Office, has been appointed as the first vice minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Yong, who was appointed to replace Vice Minister Jeon Byung-keuk, graduated from Seongnam High School in Seoul and Korea University with a master's degree in public administration, a master's degree in arts management at American University in the U.S., and a doctorate in arts management at Kyung Hee University. After entering public office with the 35th administrative notice, he served as a senior administrator in the presidential secretary's office, culture and sports secretary, secretary-general of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Integrated Supervision Committee, tourism industry policy officer, and overseas culture promotion director.

After the vice-ministerial appointment on the 4th, the Presidential Office said that `Vice Minister Yong is a bureaucrat with more than 30 years of policy experience in the overall work of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including culture and arts, contents, and public relations.' `We expect that he will contribute to the realization of a global cultural powerhouse by not only having abundant practical experience and theoretical foundation in the field of culture and arts policy, but also having an excellent understanding of the philosophy of state affairs and driving force.'
