Brazil only drew 1-1 with Colombia in the third round of the preliminary round of Group D '2024 Copa America' held at Levi's Stadium in California on the 3rd (Korea time).
Colombia broke through Group D with two wins, one draw and seven points. Brazil beat Paraguay 4-1, but failed to beat Costa Rica and Colombia, remaining one win and two draws.
This resulted in a big match in the quarterfinals. Colombia will face Panama, the second-ranked team in Group C, but Uruguay, the first-ranked team in Group C, and Brazil, the second-ranked team in Group D, will meet.
Up until the second leg, Colombia and Brazil were ranked first and second in the group, respectively. Colombia had two wins and Brazil had one win and one draw. Costa Rica, ranked third, had one draw and one loss, and had a goal difference of -3.
Colombia had been confirmed to advance to the quarterfinals. Brazil was able to secure the quarterfinals on its own if it had a draw. Brazil's goal difference was +3 points, so even if they lost, they remained in second place depending on their goal difference.
Nevertheless, Colombia and Brazil clashed very violently. In the first half alone, 17 fouls and four yellow cards were poured out from both teams.
Brazil dispatched its best members. Rodrigo (Real Madrid) was one-top and Vinicius (Real), Lucas Paqueta (West Ham) and Hafinha (FC Barcelona) were placed in the second line. João Gomes (Wolverhampton) Bruno Guimariangis (Newcastle) took the waist. Wendell (FC Porto), Marquignos (PSG), Eder Militão (Real), Danilu (Juventus) formed the back four, and Alisson (Liverpool) defended the goal.

Brazil also responded with a free kick in the 12th minute of the first half. Hafinha scored a free kick from the right outside the penalty box. Hafinha curled his left foot and aimed for the upper right corner of the goal. The goalkeeper was sucked into an unstoppable course.
Later, Colombia's onslaught began. In the 19th minute of the first half, Davinson Sanchez shook the net with a header following a free-kick cross. However, VAR results were read offside.
Colombia eventually struck a balance in first-half stoppage time. Colombia did not miss the defensive crack that began with Alisson's pass miss. Munoz, who received Cordova's penetration pass, calmly scored a chance to face the goalkeeper.
At the start of the second half, Brazil fired Andreas Pereira (Fullam) to win. Rather, he sweated over Colombia's sharp counterattack. Brazil passively ran for quite a long time in the second half as if they were embarrassed by Colombia's offensive.
It wasn't until the 42nd minute of the second half that Brazil pulled out its last card. Endrick (Paumerias) and Douglas Luiz (Juventus) were put in at the same time to aim for a shot. The extra time was given five minutes, but no reversal took place.
