Doosan Bears officially announced the recruitment of substitute players for Shirakawa Kisho.

Doosan signed a substitute foreign player contract with Shirakawa for a total of 4 million yen (about 34 million won) on the 10th. Shirakawa said, "I'm happy to join a good team called the Doosan Bears. I'm going to throw every ball in every game I take the mound with all my might to win" he said.

Shirakawa, a right-hander from the Japanese Independent League, signed a six-week contract with SSG as a substitute for Roenis Elias. He had two wins and two losses in five games and a 5.09 ERA. Except for poor performance with eight runs (seven earned runs) in one ⅓ inning against Lotte on the 7th, he did not collapse much and played a role on the mound. The ERA recorded in four games except against Lotte is only 2.49.

SSG announced Shirakawa on waivers on the 3rd after agonizing ahead of Elias' return. Doosan was ranked fourth after Kiwoom, Hanwha, and Lotte, with other teams being able to be nominated in reverse order as of the 3rd. As the three teams passed, Doosan took the opportunity to recruit Shirakawa.

Doosan has been looking for a replacement player after Brandon Waddell was diagnosed for more than six weeks on the 24th of last month with a left subcapsular muscle injury. Foreign pitcher Eric Yokishi, who played for the Kiwoom Heroes, was called to Korea for a test. However, I leaned toward Shirakawa, who showed stable performance at SSG. Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop said, `If we come in order, we will try to recruit Shirakawa. If there are many, he can take the mound up to six times. Yokishi has a visa problem. He played on the Korean stage last year, but he has to consider various things, including his sense of practice, and consider the number of appearances. I think Shirakawa, who played in Korea, would be better to make the best use of his six weeks."

SSG head coach Lee Soo-yong said, `We talked about Lee Seung-yeop during the All-Star match because he said, `I'm interested in Shirakawa.' `I told the truth. He's a good pitcher, and even though he's young, he showed his performance on the mound. I have power in my fastball, release point is good, I throw 2 types of curves, and splitter is good. I think it's possible when you're in our team." Then "I hope Shirakawa goes and does well. But I hope it doesn't come out when you do it with us. I hope you throw well to the other team's game and win a lot."

Shirakawa will join Suwon on the 11th to meet with the team.
