Jeon High School held a blue dragon in its arms for the first time in 100 years. It is the second national championship in baseball history in 39 years since the Golden Lion in 1985.

Jeonju High School, led by Jung Woo-joo, beat Masan Yongmago 14-5 in the 79th Cheongryonggi National High School Championship and the weekend league King Wangjung match (co-hosted by Chosun Ilbo, Sports Chosun, and Korea Baseball Softball Association) at Mokdong Stadium in Seoul on the 16th.

It was literally a bloody battle in the rain, with the game suspended for an hour and 44 minutes due to rain, but the goddess of victory finally smiled at Jeonju High School.

Jeonju High School is a historic baseball team founded in 1925, and Masan Yongma High School was founded in 1936. Both teams went through the ups and downs of the re-establishment (Jeongo 1977 and Masan Yongmago 1963) after the disbandment.

It was a match between both teams for the first Cheongryonggi championship. In particular, Masan Yongmago was once again frustrated and engulfed in its first attempt to win the national championship since its foundation.

Before the game, Joo Chang-hoon, coach of Jeon High School, said, `We lost the E-Mart Cup final at the beginning of the season. The number of students is small and the players are thin, but I am proud of the players who came to the final of the Cheongryonggi. The school provided a lot of support. I'll win this tournament for sure" threw his hat in the ring.

Director Jin Min-soo of Masan Yongmago said, `I am confident of batting. Young pitchers supported me well, so I came to the finals. The players' confidence grew as they continued to win. to be able to win" raised his voice.

While Jeon High School started first-year Lee Si-hoo, Masan Yongma High School moved forward with ace Joo Tae-joon as the starter.

The one who gained the upper hand was Masan Yongmago. As if nervous about the final of the big stage, Jeon high school Lee Si-hoo gave up the first run without a hit, allowing him to push off with three consecutive walks following a hit ball and a sacrifice bunt.

Jeon high school immediately posted ace Jung Woo-ju. Jung Woo-joo finished the inning with consecutive strikeouts, and even Choi Min-sang, the first batter, was struck out in the bottom of the second inning before falling into right field.

However, Jeon High School put Jung Woo-ju back on the mound when the next pitcher Park Si-hyun allowed a triple to right-center after one out. Jung Woo-joo gave up a walk, but Kwon Hee-jae was grounded out and turned off the light again.

Jeon High School turned the game around with three points in the top of the second inning. Leading hitter Seo Young-joon got on base with a hit, and tied an infield hit to the opponent's wild pitch to become the first and third base with no outs. Then, when Kim Yu-bin grounded out to third base, the home ball hit the runner and fell out, making it tied 1-1.

In the second and third bases with no outs, Yoon Do-yeon's squeeze bunt led to an infield hit and turned the game around 2-1. In the ensuing chance, Park Han-yeol's sacrifice fly made it 3-1.

Jeonju's batters added three more runs in the top of the third inning to gain momentum. Leading hitter Lee Han-rim's walk and Seo Young-joon, Sung Min-soo and Jung Seok-joo's timely hit followed, quickly running to 6-1.

The variable of the day, as much as the power of both teams, was the fickle downpour in the rainy season. Jung Woo-joo struck out the first batter in the bottom of the third inning to continue the game, but the game was suspended at 3:11 p.m. due to heavy rain.

The game resumed at 4:55 p.m., an hour and 44 minutes later. Considering the athletes and cheering squads of both teams from the provinces, the game was carried out in the drizzle. Fortunately, the rain stopped immediately after the game resumed.

Jung Woo-joo filled only 45 pitches and fell back into right field in preparation for the game to be suspended the next day.

Jeonju's offensive continued. In the top of the fourth inning, with runners on the second and third bases with one out, the fourth batter Lee Han-rim shot a three-run shot to the left, followed by Seo Young-joon's hit and Sung Min-soo and Kim Yoo-bin's one-run timely hit.

Jeon High School gave up one run with a walk in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Choi Yoon-seok's two-run timely hit and Um Jun-hyun's infield ground ball widened the gap to 14-2 in the top of the sixth inning.

The game was tilted early, but the heart of high school baseball cheering 'Friend' remained. Stormy cheering continued until the end of the game on the bench and in the stands of Masan Yongmago.

Masan Yongmago also created several scoring chances taking advantage of the ball control anxiety of the high school pitchers, but one shot was disappointing. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kim Joo-oh's timely hit added one point and Roh Min-hyuk's at-bat with a wild pitch, but missed the ensuing bases-loaded chance.

Jeon High School, who had a lot of time, used various pitchers such as Baekhyun-ho, Kim Seo-joon, and Song Kwan-woo to experience the final stage. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Masan Yongmago Kim Joo-oh shot a solo shot to the left side and added one more point, but the game was not reversed.

The pitcher who won the championship was also Jung Woo-joo. Jung Woo-joo took the mound for the third time in the bottom of the ninth inning and finished the game without losing a point, giving Jeon High School its first blue dragon flag victory and its first national championship in 39 years.
