British media 'Mirror' revealed the secret of Tony's high penalty success rate on the 9th (Korea time) 'The reason why Ivan Tony conducts penalty training from 13 yards instead of 12 yards'
According to the Mirror, Tony attempted a total of 31 penalties in his club career and succeeded 29 times. It is a 93.5 percent success rate.
The Mirror says the last time Tony missed a penalty was in April 2023. He also scored a penalty in a friendly match against Belgium in March. Tony uses a special method to prepare for penalty pressure. Former goalkeeper coach Bob Jeffrey, who trained with Tony, has revealed the secret.
Jeffrey enjoyed watching " He actually shoots from 13 yards (about 12 meters), not from 12 yards (about 11 meters). I told him 'Hey Ivan, why are you kicking from 13 yards?' asked. Then he replied, "'If you practice like this, the goal looks bigger when you shoot from 12 yards in real life.'"," he told the story.
Since he usually trained about 1m behind him, he will be more confident when he is given an actual penalty.
Tony appeared as the fourth kicker of the quarter-final shootout against Switzerland and calmly scored a goal.
Jeffrey enjoyed the training he had with him. It was also fun to talk to him and get to know him. Still, what impressed me the most was the detail of everything Tony did. He never skimmed over. He hit every shot as if it were a World Cup final."

Tony says "I never look at the ball. It's my routine, but some people may think I'm crazy. I will continue to do so. So far, it has worked well. All of our teammates are confident in the penalty. Everyone can succeed. I trusted all my colleagues. We deserved it"I looked back.
Tony said "Fix (goalkeeper Jordan Pickford) did a great job, so the rest was up to us. I'm glad I did my part. Calmness is important. I'm impatient, but I had to be patient in this tournament. I know that one day the opportunity will come. Whether you start on the bench, start or get a penalty, you have to be prepared at all times."
England will face the Netherlands in the semifinals at 4 a.m. on the 11th.
