The 110kg fat defender's amazing status, 'Dieting Jules is like a new recruit.'
The German defender, who was pointed out as a professional player who couldn't manage himself due to his thick belly fat and weight of 110kg, revealed a completely different situation.

Center back Jules, who led Dortmund to the European Champions League final in the 2023-2024 season, recently returned to the team to prepare for the pre-season next season after a short summer break. In the photo released by the club, Jules appeared to have succeeded in dieting.

Dortmund CEO Watzke said, "(Looking at Jules) I thought." 'God, we've got a new player!'. It's just amazing how he managed to take care of himself. Really good (body) condition..." applauded Jules's bleeding efforts.

If you compare the photo taken in the second half of last season with the photo of this preseason, you can see at once how different it has changed. He even pushed his beard neatly, and the impression of being a fan was nowhere to be seen, but he became a handsome man.

According to German local media, the leaders of Dortmund's club met with Jules once in December last year regarding his weight. Jules showed his willingness to improve, including hiring a private chef, but nothing changed.

The Dortmund club has rated Jules' appropriate weight at around 100kg, but Jules maintained 110kg. The club threatened Jules to lose weight by July 10 because he had to accompany Jules, a high-paid player (more than 10 million euros in estimated annual salary) with two years left on his contract. Jules' incredible transformation is making the club smile.

Jules, a native of Frankfurt and Hoffenheim Youth, quickly rose to prominence in Hoffenheim and moved to Munich in 2017 to play for five seasons. He is one of the treble members of the 2019-2020 season.

Jules, whose contract with Munich ended in 2022, signed a four-year contract with Dortmund on a free contract. In the 2022-2023 season, he played in 41 games, including the Cup, and 31 games last season.

Last season, Nico Schloterbeck and Mats Hummels lost their starting positions. In the Champions League final against Real Madrid, he did not play for a minute, and his team lost 0–2, finishing second. Naturally, he was eliminated from the German national team and failed to play in the Euro 2024 in his country. Key center back Hummels is looking for a starting position next season.
