The Korea e-Sports Association will start this year's competition in earnest on the 14th, starting with the selection contest for the 16th Presidential Cup Amateur E-Sports Competition.

The 'Presidential Cup Amateur Esports Competition' (hereinafter referred to as the Presidential Cup KeG) is the first official national amateur esports competition launched in 2007 to develop balanced regional esports, discover promising e-sports players, and expand the base of amateur esports, and is the only government-hosted event in the world for 17 years.

As the birthplace of amateur e-sports players, a total of 1,130 amateur players participated in last year's competition, including regional representatives, national finals, and leagues, and about 30 players in three sports made their professional debuts.

This year's Presidential Cup KeG will be held with 16 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, excluding Sejong Special Self-Governing City, participating in two events: Riot Games' 'League of Legends' and Nexon Korea's 'FC Online'. In particular, 'strategic events' were newly established this year to expand the base of internationally active e-sports events in Korea. Capcom's 'Street Fighter 6' was selected as the first strategic event, and eight elite players will be on the national final stage through separate qualifiers.

Starting with Gangwon State on the 14th, the 'Regional Representative Selection' will be held in 16 regions across the country until August 4, and one team 'League of Legends' and two teams 'FC Online' will be selected as representatives for each region. The selection match will be held online and offline in each region, and schedule confirmation and participation applications will be available on the tournament's website.

After selecting regional representatives, the Presidential Cup KeG 'National Final' will be held at Asan Yi Sun-shin Gymnasium in Asan City, Chungcheongnam-do from August 17 to 18. The overall winning area will be honored with a trophy and a presidential award, and the winner of each event will be awarded a prize from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Meanwhile, in the second half of this year, the presidential cup KeG League, in which local representative players participate, will be held for the second consecutive year. This year, a new system to support team participation fees for stable regional national teams to participate in the tournament will be established, and the league will be held in earnest from September with more players expected to participate.
