The fifth round of the super race 'SUMMER SAESON'2nd race '2024 O-NE Super Race Championship' will be held at Everland Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, on the 13th.
The team that took the lead from Super 6000, the highest class, to the last four rounds is Seo Han GP. Starting with the opening game Chung Eui-chul's victory, Seo-seo GP won the championship for four consecutive games, including Jang Hyun-jin's three consecutive wins in the second and fourth rounds. Because it is around the halfway point, other teams have to earn as many points as possible in this round for the championship competition in the second half of the year.
The variable for this round is the weather. Although the rainy season continues, on the 13th, the day of the game, it is predicted to be sunny all day in Yongin. However, since it is rainy season, there is a possibility that the forecast will change within a day or two.
From the team's point of view, it is not easy to prepare all the road conditions. In the fourth round, most teams chose wet tires used on wet roads amid rain, but Jang Hyun-jin boldly started with dry tires and won the championship, showing a victory in his strategy.
In addition, the layout of the speedway night course (2.538km) that will be held this time to coincide with the night race has many shorter slow-speed sections than the existing 4.346km, so more attention should be paid to brake operation. In fact, four accidents occurred last year at Corner 7, which was newly created due to layout changes, and Corner 8, which is immediately followed. Jang Hyun-jin, who adds 100 kilograms of handicap weight, has become more burdensome. However, he was ranked second in the same layout last year, and in the previous round, he was on top through an appropriate tire strategy with a handicap weight of 100kg, allowing him to compete in the top ranks.
In addition, there are not many overtaking points, so qualifying is more important than other rounds. In response, the letter GP selected Jeong Eui-cheol and Kim Joong-gun as team point designators. Chung Eui-chul and Kim Joong-gun are also high-quality drivers who can win at any time. Chung Eui-chul said, `The goal of this round is to win unconditionally because the results of the third and fourth rounds did not meet expectations,' adding "We can play enough because we have taken out the weight of the handicap." One Racing also selected Oh Han-sol, who had a good record in the preliminary round, as the team point designator. Oh Han-sol not only ranked second in the qualifying round in the last two rounds, but also ranked fifth in the qualifying round on the speedway night course last year.
In addition, Hwang Jin-woo (Junpitched Racing), who is ranking second in the driver's championship, and Park Kyu-seung (Brand New Racing), who is two years apart from Super 6000, are also noteworthy. These teams, equipped with Michelin tires this season, performed well in the rainy opening game.
Meanwhile, the GT class is in a state of chaos. Until the opening game, defending champion Jung Kyung-hoon (53 points) won the championship, and his challenge to win seven consecutive games seemed to be smooth. However, things have changed rapidly since the second round. Park Seok-chan (43 points for Brand New Racing) and Jung Won-won (48 points for Igo Racing) stood at the top of the podium in the second and third rounds, respectively.
In addition, Lee Dong-ho (45 points for Elaine Motorsport) and Moon Se-eun (37 points for BMP Performance) are also steadily collecting points. There is a tight point gap from 1st place Jung Kyung-hoon to 5th place Moon Se-eun, so the ranking can be changed at any time depending on the round results.
