The number of Japanese Premier Leaguers has increased to four. On the other hand, South Korea has only three players, Son Heung-min (Tottenham) and Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton) and Kim Ji-soo (Brentford), who were promoted to the first team in the 2024-2025 season.
Of course, Tottenham's 'captain' Son Heung-min's reputation alone is recognized for its higher value than their combined value. However, the Japanese EPL 's sudden attack' is another phenomenon.
The Japanese No. 4 Premier Leaguer is Daichida Kamada, a midfielder who was expected to share the same team with Son Heung-min last year. Crystal Palace announced the recruitment of Kamada on the 1st (Korea time). The contract is for two years.
The power of 'Teacher' was frightening. Kamada was an apprentice to Oliver Glasner during his time in Frankfurt, Germany's Bundesliga. Glasner took the helm of Palace in February.
"I've rarely met such a smart player on the field," Glasner said of Kamada in 2022. "Kamada's sense of where dangerous spaces will be held is outstanding."
Kamada was reunited with Glasner in the EPL. He added "I'm even happier to work with director Glasner again. We look forward to the new challenges we face in the EPL"I'll make sure that both my team and I can achieve our goals.", he expressed his feelings.
Kamada, born in 1996, was once an attacking midfielder representing Japan. Making his professional debut with the J League Sagan dos, he moved to Frankfurt in 2017. Kamada, who spent the 2018-2019 season on loan in Sintrawidan, Belgium, took root as Frankfurt's main player from the 2019-2020 season.
He played in 34 games in the 2020-2021 season, scoring five goals and 15 assists, and led Frankfurt to its first championship in 42 years in the 2021-2022 season, scoring five goals in the Europa League.
He ended his contract with Frankfurt at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Rumors of a transfer to Tottenham were raised last summer. But it wasn't meant to be.
As Tottenham recruited James Madison, the move to recruit Kamada sank below the surface. Kamada signed with Italian Serie A side Lazio and was released as a free agent again this summer. Kamada has scored two goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, including 29 Serie A matches.
In addition to Kamada, players in the EPL include Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arnall), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton), and Wataru Endo (Liverpool).
