Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout will play in a minor league rehab game to return this week. Trout is a member of Triple-A on the 24th (Korea Standard Time) and will play for the first time since his injury to improve his condition.
Triple-A Salt Lake Bis under the Angels announced on the club's official SNS on the 21st that `Mike Trout will join our team at Smith Ballpark on Wednesday for a rehabilitation game.'
Salt Lake will play six consecutive home games against the El Paso Chihuahua (under the San Diego Padres) starting on the 24th. Trout is expected to play two games on the 24th and 25th and return to the big league as early as the 26th. Trout reportedly joined Salt Lake last weekend after playing live batting in Arizona, where the team's spring training camp is located.
MLB.com says Trout, who played live batting and outfield defensive training last weekend, will start his rehabilitation game on Wednesday. It is expected to be in the big leagues as early as Wednesday in time for the first of a three-game home series against the Oakland Athletics.'"
Trout suffered a ruptured semicircular cartilage in his left knee against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 30 and underwent surgery on May 4. After that, he steadily digested the rehabilitation program and began normal running training at the end of last month and began making his body in earnest.
Trout had a batting average of 0.220 (24 hits in 109 at-bats), 10 homers, 14 RBIs, 17 runs scored, and an OPS of 0.867 in 29 games this season before the injury. The batting average was low, but he showed off his peak slugging power by hitting home runs every day.

The Angels' last postseason was in 2014. After winning the district with a 98-64 record that year, he reached the Division Series, but was eliminated after losing three consecutive games to the Kansas City Royals. It was the only postseason stage Trout took since his major league debut.
However, the Angels have been nowhere near fall baseball for nine consecutive years until last year. In particular, Shohei Ohtani, a combined pitching and hitting player, joined in 2018 and became the AL MVP in 2021, and he was active as an ace on the mound, but the Angels did not take advantage of the opportunity at all. In the end, Ohtani said goodbye to Trout last winter and moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers for 10 years and $700 million.
Trout himself has not been able to help since 2021, spending more than half of the season on the injured list due to major and minor injuries every year. Trout, who signed an extension contract for $426.5 million (about 592 billion won) in 12 years, the highest ever in March 2019, is widely believed to have begun the downhill after being named AL MVP that year.
Even if Trout plays the peak hitting sense in his return this time, the Angels can't rebound. The failure of the postseason for the 10th consecutive year is a given.
