However, Doosan's counterattack began then. Manager Lee Seung-yeop deployed Kim Min-kyu (one ⅓ inning) early in the third inning, signaling an all-out war.

Doosan's Kim Jae-hwan struck out, but Yang Seok-hwan fired a bases-loaded shot from behind the left side, turning it over 7-6. This year, it was the 21st professional baseball, 1,067th career grand slam, and Yang Seok-hwan's 7th grand slam.

Doosan immediately faced a crisis due to Kim Kang-ryul's turmoil in the top of the sixth inning. Choi Ji-gang, who put in the bases loaded with two outs, tied the score by allowing Lotte's Junghoon Lee to give a walk, but prevented additional runs.

Doosan's Choi Ji-gang hit a double by Reyes in the top of the eighth inning, and immediately placed a super-stronger to raise Kim Taek-yeon. Kim Taek-yeon gave Na Seung-yeop a timely RBI and Lee Hak-joo a hit ball, but he cut off the follow-up hit without additional runs due to overwhelming ball power.
Doosan took a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, with Yang Eui-ji shooting a full base against Lotte Park Jin, leading the game 13-8. Kim Taek-yeon finished the game as it was.
