Jurgen Klinsmann recommended a back four for the English national team, but it was not accepted. England manager Gareth Southgate practiced a back three ahead of the quarter-final match against Switzerland.

British media 'The Sun' said on the 4th (Korea time) that England trained a new formation. Southgate is considering significant changes, reports said.

England will face Switzerland at 1 a.m. on the 7th against the quarterfinals of 'Euro 2024'. England's main center back Mark Gehi (Crystal Palace) cannot come out due to accumulated warnings. Changes are inevitable because the performance was not good until the round of 16.

Amid a lot of discipline and criticism toward England, Klinsmann also put a spoon on it.

Klinsmann left his advice in a series of columns in 'The Sun' during the Euros.

Klinsmann added "Southgate probably wants a 4-4-2 against Switzerland. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) and Ivan Toney (Brentford) can be used as two-top players. I think it works. If Southgate feels the same, he should be bold. If you're a coach, you have to trust your instincts in the tournament and sometimes make unpopular decisions."

England played 4-2-3-1 in all four Euros games.

Kane is on top. Phil Foden (Man City), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Bukayo Saka (Arnall) were placed in the second line. The back four consisted of Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Guehi-John Stones (Man City) and Kyle Walker (Man City). Three-term midfielder Declan Rice (Arnall) and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (Everton) were also embedded.

Only Rice's partner has been replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea) and Kobe Mainu (Manchester United).

If you use 4-4-2, you have a big dilemma because you have to use only one central midfielder to take out one of Foden Bellingham Saka or use all three. The former is hard to avoid criticism without anyone, and the latter is too aggressive.

With Guehi absent, Southgate fiddled with a back three card.

The Sun says 'Southgate is considering a Swiss back-three transition. The team practiced back three in preparation for the quarterfinals. This is the first time I have practiced this formation in Germany. England struggled against Serbia and Denmark, who used a back three. Switzerland also uses a hundred and three.

The Sun will have Trippier or Alexander-Arnold at right wingback and Walker can come to the right stopper at back 3. It could potentially be Sakana Luke Shaw at left wing-back. With Guehi suspended, Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa) is the No. 1 replacement.

Consa, Stones and Walker tried 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 in the back three. Of course, in any case, Klinsmann's proposed Tony and Kane two-top are not applicable.

However, the variable is Bellingham. Bellingham had a controversial ceremony against Slovakia in the round of 16. Bellingham took his hand towards the groin and engaged in the act of grabbing something. UEFA is discussing whether the gesture is an insult to Slovakia or an act of damaging dignity. Bellingham could be suspended or fined.

If Bellingham can't come out, two-top is also considered. The Sun predicted that should Bellingham be suspended, England could play a 4-3-1-2 system with Tony and Kane at the forefront and Foden at No 10'

For now, the weight is put on the back 3. The Sun added 'England had a back three in some of the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020. England may still have two more training sessions to stick to the back four, but it is clear that the back three is being seriously considered.
