Yang Jae-yi, a mixed-race young man who dreams of 'Korean Dream', has declared his bid to advance to the KBO League. He threw the ball vigorously in front of scouts from 10 clubs.
Yang Jie participated in the 2025 KBO Rookie Draft Tryout held at LG Champions Park in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do on the 19th. The tryout is a place where amateur and professional players from abroad, and players who dropped out after registering as high school and college players show off their skills ahead of the draft.
Among the 15 participants (16 applicants, 1 absent), Yang Jie drew the most attention. Born in 2002, he graduated from high school and college in the U.S. I graduated from Ovelin University earlier this year. However, he has both Korean and American citizenship, so he can participate in this tryout.

In the U.S., baseball was at the level of a club. I studied well, too. I also received a Georgetown graduate letter of acceptance. the crossroads of life's important choices. I chose to go to Korea instead of Georgetown. It was because I liked baseball. I made up my mind that I wanted to try as a professional player. He came to Korea and prepared for this tryout by throwing the ball as a member of independent team, Hwaseong City Corillo.
Yang Jae-yi was evaluated by throwing 30 balls on the day. The maximum speed of the fastball was only 147 kilometers, but he calmly sprayed the ball in the heat. I threw a mix of fastballs, sliders, curves, and changeups. Although he could not show all his abilities with these 30 pitches, he was evaluated as having a very good gemstone in the field. As a pitcher, he has a natural physique and soft throwing form, so if he trims it well, he has a strong potential for future development.

Yang Jae-yi said that he was in a 150-kilometer arrest for choosing to go to baseball and Korea, so he said he was a waste of his abilities, such as scouting in the Major League. My uncle (Yang Dong-geun) also advised me and cheered me on, saying, "Why don't you try it in Korea?" When I first came to Korea to see my grandmother last year, I watched the game with my uncle at Jamsil Stadium. It was impressive that the pitchers had good breaking ball control," he added.

Finally, Yang Jie said, `If you can pick any team, I'd really like to try hard. I want to learn a lot and play in the first team and win. I also dream of playing for the Korean national team in the future." The feeling of a large, pure young man was full.
