Minister of Culture and Sports Yoo In-chon visited the opening ceremony of the Para Team Korea House in Paris, where the Paralympics will be held. Minister Yoo talked about ways to support sports for the disabled and the transfer of the budget for sports for all.

On the 28th (local time), the Korean Sports Association for the Disabled held the opening ceremony of the Paratim Korea House at the Mare District 'Mare Showroom' in Paris, France. The opening ceremony was attended by Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chung Jin-wan, President of the Korea Sports Council for the Disabled, Choi Jae-chul, Ambassador to France, Bae Dong-hyun, Head of the Korean Athletes' Association, and executives and employees of affiliated sports organizations.

After touring the Korea House, Minister Yoo In-chon said, "The budget is small, but it is fully decorated. Equipment for the disabled to train will also be on display, and those looking for it will be impressed. The history and policies of our sports for the disabled are well organized."

He cited the Icheon National Training Center, where national athletes train, as an exemplary example of Korea's disabled sports administration. Minister Yoo said, `I heard that foreign countries also envy Icheon athletes' village and come on a field trip. We are also running well for youth, sports for all, and competitions with the disabled and the non-disabled.

It is the second time that Minister Yoo has visited the site of the Paralympics since the 2008 Beijing Games. Minister Yoo said, `At that time, I was shocked and moved to see the Paralympic swimming competition. It was impressive to see the swimmers showing their full bodies (with disabilities). I had only a superficial notion of 'the disabled' and saw it for the first time, so I couldn't forget it"I looked back. After attending the opening ceremony on the 28th as a government representative, Minister Yoo plans to stay in Paris until the 31st to intuitively support Team Korea's team games such as goalball, boccia, swimming, taekwondo, and table tennis. Minister Yoo said, "(The Paralympics) is a competition that people without disabilities should watch rather than people with disabilities. It feels like a mirror that can look back on me. Even now, my heart is pounding. He expressed his expectation.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Minister Yoo on the same day, there was also a question about the 2025 budget announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 27th. Of the sports budgets for all life and youth, which were issued and executed by the Korea Sports Association, 41.6 billion won will be given directly to the city and sports association through local governments. The prevailing view is that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which has been in conflict with the Korean Sports Council, is the first step toward reforming the sports world.

Minister Yoo In-chon said, `It is a time when sports are important. If you do something other than physical education, you will be pushed out of interest. "The environment has changed a lot, but compared to 2008, policies such as daily sports, school sports, and elite sports have not changed much.' "It's time for an overall inspection. Players have also changed from the past. The government and the sports community should match that. It is trying to set a direction suitable for overall reform measures or elite, daily sports, and youth sports. We will listen to the overall opinions of the sports community and change the overlapping parts to suit the scene.

Paris = Joint Compromise Foundation

-This is my second visit to the Paralympics. How do you feel.

▶I visited the Paralympics for the first time in Beijing 2008. I watched the game before that, but I was shocked and moved a lot. In particular, swimming reveals all of its (disability) bodies, and it's the first time I've seen such a thing. I can't forget it because it's the first time I've seen such a stark appearance while thinking only superficially about the 'disabled'. I think it's a game that people without disabilities should watch rather than tangible achievements such as how many medals they win. It feels like a mirror that can look back on me, and I'm excited.

-How do you feel about looking around Korea House.

▶It is a little small because there is also a budget problem. The Paralympics have a lower budget compared to the Olympics. Still, it was decorated well. Equipment for the disabled to train will also be on display, and those who come will be impressed. The history and policies of sports for the disabled in the past are well organized. Even in foreign countries, I heard that Icheon athletes' village is envious and comes on a field trip. (Our sports community for the disabled) is advanced because it has a lot of exchanges through competitions with youth, the disabled in daily sports, and the non-disabled. The Seoul Metropolitan Government will also host the International Olympic Committee (IPC) General Assembly next year. It seems to be a leading example in which the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the government, and the Sports Council for the Disabled cooperate organically. Bandabi gyms are also increasing every year. The goal is to set 150 nationwide, and if it is achieved, it will be of great help to sports for the disabled. Sports for the disabled are also important. It is necessary to create a good environment where you can exercise with non-disabled people without staying in the room.

-What is the difference between the view of the sports world and the disabled.

▶ The sports world for the disabled has also improved a lot compared to the past. The budget has also increased. The Paralympics reward is the same as the Olympics. It was already the same when I was Minister in 2008. Non-disabled sports have more sports and more athletes, so the budget is inevitably large. However, it seems that sports for the disabled are actually operating well. It will be better in the future. President Yoon Suk Yeol is also interested in sports for the disabled. The government has taken the lead in implementing it. The government is also continuing to work.

-The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has changed its method to distribute 41.6 billion won of the daily sports budget, which was given to the sports association, to the city and provincial sports associations through local governments. What kind of background is it.

▶It is an important time for sports. All you have to do is work hard on physical education. There's nothing else. If you do something other than physical education, you will be pushed out of interest. The environment has changed a lot, but there is no significant change in policy such as daily sports, school sports, and elite sports compared to 2008 when I first became a minister. It's time for an overall inspection. Players have also changed from the past. (The government and the sports community) should match that. It is trying to set a direction suitable for overall reform measures or elite, daily sports, and youth sports. We will listen to the overall opinions of the sports community and change the overlapping parts to suit the site.
