The Seoul Olympic Memorial National Sports Promotion Foundation (Chairman Cho Hyun-jae) announced that the government's proposal for next year's National Sports Promotion Account (hereinafter referred to as the Sports Fund) was set at 1.616 trillion won and passed a Cabinet meeting at the end of August.

The 2025 sports fund government plan is an increase of 50.2 billion won from 1.566.2 trillion won this year, reflecting 5242 billion won, a 25% increase from this year, in the areas of guaranteeing basic rights to participate in sports, strengthening the welfare of athletes, and preparing for the future of the sports industry.

First of all, the beneficiaries of sports course vouchers and monthly support will be expanded so that more low-income children, teenagers, and the disabled can experience sports. (140,000 people → 146,000 people/youth → 100,000 won, maintaining 110,000 won for the disabled). In addition, the targets of sports activity incentive projects to promote health promotion and medical cost reduction through sports have also been greatly expanded (10,000 → 80,000 people, up to 50,000 won per person).

In addition, the National Sports Center will be expanded to improve the low birth rate and respond to the aging population. A total of 55 new locations (31 in 2024) across the country, including 9 infant-friendly and 20 senior-friendly, will be established to guarantee basic rights to participate in sports throughout the life cycle.

It will also strengthen the welfare of athletes, who have not received enough support. A job security support project (5 billion won) was newly established to support sportsmen's employment and start-up and leader training, and 35.3 billion won was set up for the welfare of sportsmen, including the disabled, by expanding support for sports dream tree incentives for low-income families (1,237 people → 1,800 people).

In order to meet the rapidly increasing demand for investment in the sports industry and human resources training, 248.1 billion won (increase 52%), 24.8 billion won (increase 10%), and 2.4 billion won (increase 142%) for training professionals in sports convergence and marketing were also reflected. Virtual reality sports rooms distributed to 651 youth facilities nationwide will also be newly established in 100 national and public facilities for infants and the elderly, helping to promote participation in sports vulnerable groups along with shared growth in related industries (4.1 billion won).

In addition, Olympic Park and Misagyeong Park, which have been established as resting places for the people since their completion in 1986, will also be transformed into safer citizen-friendly spaces. 5.5 billion won has been set aside to install intelligent CCTVs, night lights, and improve old roads, and a comprehensive development plan will be established for Olympic Park, an Olympic legacy recognized by the IOC, to be reborn as a global complex sports and cultural space (300 million won).
