Baseball Day was established to commemorate August 23, 2008, when the Korean national baseball team won its first Olympic gold medal.
To remember this, KBO and CGV will add the meaning of 'Baseball Day' by selecting the match between the Hanwha Eagles led by head coach Kim Kyung-moon, who won the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and the Doosan Bears led by head coach Lee Seung-yeop, who hit a dramatic come-from-behind home run in the semi-final against Japan, as a live viewing party.
Chung Min-cheol (Hanwha), a former legendary player of both clubs, and Yoo Hee-kwan (Doosan) will attend the event as guests. The three guests plan to have time to communicate with baseball fans at the preview show, which starts at 5:30 p.m. before the game starts. From 6:30 p.m., baseball fans will watch the live broadcast of the Hanwha-Doosan game, and during the airlift shift, they will add fun by listening to comments from President Hu Jie-yeon and legends of both clubs. Announcer Kim Se-hee will host the event.
After the end of the fifth inning, the lucky draw order will be held to provide visitors with a variety of prizes such as the uniform of the Korean national baseball team, a handwritten official ball, and a Domino's Pizza gift certificate.
Tickets for the "2024 KBO X CGV Baseball Day Viewing Party" will be booked through CGV's website and mobile app from 3 p.m. on the 19th (Monday), and all visitors will be provided with a welcome gift, a TVing voucher, CGV Signature Sweet Popcorn and Cola along with a key ring to celebrate Baseball Day.
Details related to this event can be found on the CGV website and the event page of the mobile app, and event information can also be found through the KBO official social media channel.
Meanwhile, KBO and CJ CGV have been expanding their new baseball cheering culture by broadcasting KBO league games live in theaters every Sunday since June through a business agreement. The KBO League's live broadcast of CGV theaters, which is receiving great response every week for its high audience rate, is expected to continue from the regular season to all postseason games, providing baseball fans with a different view.
