Kyoto International High School won the Japanese High School Baseball Championship (Summer Koshien) final on the 23rd by 2-1 after 10 extra innings of blood fight against Kanto Daiichi High School.
The Korean school song resonated on the stage of the Koshien final, the sacred place of Japanese baseball.
It is Kyoto International High School's first championship in 25 years since the foundation of the baseball team in 1999. For Kyoto, it is the first summer Koshien victory in 68 years since Heian High School affiliated with Ryukoku University in 1956.
It was like the final match of Koshien. Kyoto International High School's starter Rui Nakazaki pitched hard with four hits and no runs in nine innings, but the batters also failed to score on several chances and went into extra time. In particular, one shot was regrettable in the top of the sixth inning with one out and runners on the second and third bases with two outs in the ninth inning.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, a hit ball, four intentional pitches, and shortstop errors overlapped, putting the bases loaded with two outs on the verge of finishing. However, he went into extra time by handling the last batter's fly ball to right field.

He went into the bottom of the 10th inning without scoring an additional goal in a bases-loaded chance with one out.
At the bottom of the 10th inning, Iki Nishimura took over the mound at Kyoto International High School. However, in a match that began with runners on first and second bases with no outs, he made an error during the opponent's sacrifice bunt, causing a crisis with no outs and no outs. He was chased 1-2 with a ground ball to shortstop, and with a walk that followed, he loaded the bases again.
However, he overcame another walk-off crisis. He caught the third baseman with a ground ball to the first base, and even the last batter struck out swinging and won the championship.
Kyoto International High School began with the so-called 'ethnic school' created by Koreans in Japan. It opened in 1947 as Kyoto Chosun Middle School. In 2003, it was officially approved by the Japanese government and changed its name to Kyoto International High School, and general students began to enter the school. Most of them are Japanese students now. In particular, most of the male students are Japanese students scouted as baseball team members.

He first made the national stage at Koshien in the spring of 2021, and advanced to the semifinals in the summer of understanding. This year, he even won the championship.
There is a culture in which the team that wins the Koshien game sings the school song loudly, and the loser listens to it lined up on the other side. Thanks to this, when Kyoto International High School enters Koshien, there will be a scene where Korean school songs resonate on the historic Koshien stage.
This was also shown in the Koshien final. The defeated students of Kanto Daiichi High School had to listen to Kyoto International High School's school song at the top of their lungs, swallowing fire. When the singing was over, Kyoto International High School players were happy to unite as one.

President Yoon Suk Yeol also advanced to the final for the first time in Koshien, which is called the 'Dream Stage" through SNS. I applaud the determination and passion of the players who played with all their might to the point that their uniforms were not good. I am truly proud of you."
