Pittsburgh Pirates' Bae Ji-hwan showed a great defense to prevent a run as an outfield Bodhisattva.

Bae Ji-hwan started as the ninth right fielder in a home game against the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park on the 24th (Korea time) and was silent with no hits in three at-bats.

However, in the top of the seventh inning, an accurate outfield bodhisattva came out of defense. Cincinnati, trailing 5-6, created a chance for first base with no outs in the seventh inning when leadoff hitter Santiago Espinal hit a heavy hit.

Right-handed hitter Noelvi Marte then hit Pittsburgh right-hander Dennis Santana's 90.9-mile body cutter to hit a high fly toward center fielder Bae Ji-hwan. Bae Ji-hwan moved the ball slightly to the left at a speed of 101.4 miles and caught it at a distance of 347 feet.

Then, when the first baseman Espinal tagged up to the second base, he threw it quickly, and second baseman Isaiah Kiner-Falefa tagged out the runner running in one bound and caught two outs at the same time. This is Bae Ji-hwan's first bodhisattva (assist) this season.

Bae Ji-hwan hit a grounder to the pitcher in his first at-bat after two outs in the bottom of the third inning, trailing 0-1. Cincinnati left-hander Sam Mall's fifth pitch hit a fastball flowing outside the pitcher.

In the fifth inning, trailing 3-5, first baseman Ty Frans caught a ground ball hit by Bae Ji-hwan, one out and first baseman, and threw it to second base, making all the runners alive and second and third bases. Then, when Kiner-Falefa grounded out to shortstop, third baseman Jared Triolo homered and followed 4-5.

With the team coming from behind to 6-5, Bae Ji-hwan went as the leadoff hitter in the seventh inning and struck out swinging. Bae Ji-hwan's batting average for the season fell slightly to 0.191 (13 hits in 68 at-bats).

Pittsburgh won two games in a row and marked 61-67.
