Hanwha Life Insurance headed to the final of the winner's group by easily beating the difficult opponent T1 3-0 in the second round of the '2024 League of Legends Champions Korea' (LCK) Summer Season Playoff held at LCK Arena in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 29th.
Prior to this, in the second round of the playoffs against Gen.G and D-Plus Kia held on the 28th, Gen.G, which ranked first in the regular league, won 3-0 to enter the winner's final, followed by Hanwha Life Insurance. Among the two teams met at the same place on the 31st, the winning team will reach the final first, and the losing team will once again seek to go to the final round of the loser group at Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium on September 7. In other words, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Insurance have already confirmed 'Train to Gyeongju' regardless of the match on the 31st.
Hanwha Life acquired the Rocks Tigers in 2018 and began participating in the summer season, but has never been on the LCK final stage. He ranked third in the regular league in the 2021 spring season, but lost in the semifinals of the playoffs, and was particularly weak in the postseason, being blocked by Gen.G. in the second round of the playoffs in both the spring and summer seasons in 2023. However, he maintained a stable record to the extent that he continued to remain in second place after Gen.G in the regular league, and in the game against T1, he reproduced it as it was, taking the opportunity to be on the biggest stage since its foundation.
In addition, if Hanwha Life Insurance wins the final round of the winner's group or the final round of the loser's group, it will be able to break the LCK final structure, which Gen.G and T1 have been divided for a long time. Starting from the spring season in 2022, Gen.G and T1 have been on the LCK final stage together for five consecutive times until this year's spring season, and Gen.G has won four consecutive games, writing a new history of LCK.
On the other hand, T1 was completely defeated by Hanwha Life Insurance on the same day, and must win the second round of the loser's group match against D-Plus on September 1 to join Gen.G and Hanwha Life Insurance in the third round match, and enter the LCK final for the seventh consecutive time. However, T1 is a particularly strong team in the playoffs regardless of its regular league performance, so it is determined to win the match against D+. T1 has won two games against D+ in the regular league this summer season.
