SSG Landers beat the leading KIA Tigers to secure a valuable victory.

SSG beat KIA 10-4 at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on the 29th. While starter Kim Kwang-hyun kept the mound by allowing four runs in six innings, Herredia and Choi Jung collaborated on three RBIs each in the batting lineup. Kim Sung-hyun played a role as a link in the top batting order by making three hits, and Han Yu-seom helped with a wedge two-run shot. SSG, which lost consecutive games to KIA from the 27th to the 28th, had to be satisfied with its victory to avoid the sweep loss. The season record was 59 wins, 1 draw and 64 losses. KIA struggled with Kim Do-young's three RBIs, including a tie-breaking two-run shot, but starter Eric Lauer was sluggish with five runs in five innings, and Lim Ki-young, who took the mound afterwards, also bowed his head as he allowed three runs. KIA had 73 wins, 2 draws and 49 losses.

The beginning was a battle of battles.

KIA Kim Do-young, who hit his 32nd home run of the season against Lotte Barnes in the 6th inning.
SSG scored the first run in the top of the first inning when Choi Jung made a timely hit to the left with runners on first and second bases with no outs made by Herredia's infield hit and Jung Joon-jae's four pitches. KIA succeeded in tying the game with Kim Do-young's infield hit at the second and third bases with no outs caught by Park Chan-ho's walk and Kim Sun-bin's double in the bottom of the first inning.

SSG brought the lead back in the top of the second inning. After two outs, Kim Sung-hyun's left-handed hit and Oh Tae-gon's double over the center fielder's height scored additional points, and Herredia also hit a timely hit to lead 3-1. However, KIA re-balanced 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning when Kim Sun-bin's double to right field followed Kim Do-young's two-run shot to the middle of the third inning.

SSG tried to handle the missed hit by leadoff hitter Park Ji-hwan in the top of the fifth inning, but the throw fell back, and in the meantime, Park Ji-hwan ran to third base and took a chance to score. In the third base with no outs, Choi Jung hit a two-run shot to the left, leading 5-3. KIA recovered one run with Park Chan-ho's timely hit following Kim Ho-ryeong's double to the left in the bottom of the fifth inning as Choi Won-joon's pinch hitter. However, Kim Sun-bin's ball was sucked into Kim Kwang-hyun's glove, and Park Chan-ho, who had already started with second base, threw to the empty first base and led to a double play. KIA failed to tie the game as Kim Do-young ended up with a fly ball.

SSG, which maintained the gap, again brought the lead with a home run.

Kim Sung-hyun, the leadoff batter, got on base with a hit to right-center against Lim Ki-young, who took the mound in place of Lauer in the top of the sixth inning. With one out and second base leading to Oh Tae-gon's sacrifice bunt, Herredia shot a two-run shot to the left, widening the gap to 7-4. In the top of the seventh inning, Lee Ji-young added one more point to lead to 8-4 as he made a timely hit against KIA Kim Seung-hyun with one out and second base made by Ha Jae-hoon's successful walk and steal.

SSG, which kept its lead by operating the bullpen from the bottom of the seventh inning, widened the gap to 10-4 in the top of the ninth inning when Han Yoo-sum fired a two-run shot against KIA Yoo Ji-sung. At the bottom of the ninth inning, closer Cho Byung-hyun pitched a scoreless pitch to complete a six-point victory.
