The Korea Football Association announced on the 21st that João Arroso (52), a Portuguese coach and leader of many Portuguese first division teams, was appointed as the head coach and tactical coach, and Thiago Maia (40), a former coach and analyst in Benfica, Portugal, will join as a tactical analysis coach.
Coach João Aroso, who started as a leader at Sporting CP, has been coaching the Portuguese national team since 2010, helping them advance to the semifinals of the 2012 European Championship and the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. Since then, he has been a veteran leader of Portugal's under-15 national team and Morocco's under-20 national team, and until recently, he has served as technical director of Portugal's first division FC Famalikan. Coach Paulo Bento, who led the Korean national soccer team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has been with him for a total of eight years, including four years at Sporting CP and four years at the Portuguese national team.

Coach Thiago Maia, who was appointed as a power analysis coach, has coached at Sporting CP and Vitoria Setubal, and has been an age-specific team coach and analyst at Benfica since 2018.
Director Hong Myung-bo traveled directly to Europe in July and conducted interviews with candidates. Coach João Arroso and Coach Thiago Maia were finally chosen. The physical coach, who was negotiating, broke down in the final contract stage with a strong candidate and will be reinforced later.
The foreign coaching staff will enter the country this week and begin their full-fledged work this weekend, starting with watching the K-League.
With this, Hong Myung-bo has completed the formation of the coaching staff. Earlier on the 16th, Park Geon-ha (53), former head coach of Suwon Samsung, Kim Dong-jin (42), acting coach of Kitch FC, and Kim Jin-kyu (39), head of FC Seoul's power reinforcement office, were appointed as national team coaches. Coach Park Geon-ha is a veteran leader who served as the head coach of Seoul E-Land and Suwon Samsung, and joined as the head coach in the second qualifying round of the World Cup in June. In the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 Brazil World Cup, he assisted Hong Myung-bo as a coach.
Coach Kim Dong-jin, who played as a national defender, has played in Zenit (Russia), Hangzhou (China), Muangtong (Thailand), and Seoul E-Land since his professional debut with Anyang LG, the predecessor of FC Seoul in 2000. Since retiring from Kitch SC in Hong Kong in 2018, he has had a leadership career at Kitch SC. Coach Kim Jin-kyu is a former national defender who has shown leadership by serving as captain of various national teams and teams when he was a player, and has been active in various positions such as coaches, acting coaches, and head of the power reinforcement office at FC Seoul since his retirement in 2017.
The new coaching staff began their first move on the 16th by watching the K-League game.
