The LG Twins had a disappointing attack in the bottom of the third inning against SSG Landers in Jamsil on the 20th.
LG, leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning due to a double by Kim Hyun-soo and a hit by Hong Chang-ki, gave up two runs and tied the game 2-2 in the top of the third inning due to a sudden disturbance by starter Eliaser Hernandez.
There was a chance to get ahead again in the bottom of the third inning. With a walk by No. 2 Shin Min-jae and a hit to the left by No. 3 Austin, Moon created chances for runners on the first and third bases with no outs. Then, Moon Bo-kyung hit the first pitch.
Moon Bo-kyung's ball, which pushed SSG starter Drew Anderson's fastball, rolled straight to the third baseman. Third baseman Shin Min-jae was thinking about playing home, but returned to third base. Third baseman Choi Jeong threw it to second base and attempted a double play, and the ball flew to first base following second base and was out until Moon Bo-kyung. However, when the ball went to first base, Shin Min-jae suddenly ran home. And as soon as first baseman Oh Tae-gon caught the ball, he threw it home and was tagged out with ease.
Shin Min-jae's miss play resulted in a triple play. If he played home from the beginning, Choi Jung had to choose whether to catch Shin Min-jae, who plays home, or give one point but catch two out-counts. If Choi Jung catches Shin Min-jae, it will be the first and second bases in one out, and if he chooses to double play, LG will lead 3-2, and there will be no runners with two outs.
However, as Shin Min-jae returned to third base without running at all, Choi Jung-eun was able to choose a double play immediately, and as he played home late, even the opportunity to continue with two outs and third base disappeared. The concentration of the SSG defense, which was not missing Shin Min-jae's quick third baseman until the end, showed no gap.
This is the second triple-defeat this season and the 83rd of all time. On the offensive side, Moon Bo-kyung's double play is recorded as Shin Min-jae's running mate.
