Kang Min-ho was selected as the KBO League's monthly MVP in July. It is the first time in 20 years since his professional debut.

KBO announced the results of its monthly MVP vote in July on the 9th.

Kang Min-ho received 14 out of 25 votes for reporters (56.0%) and 125,997 out of 514,874 votes for fans (24.5%) to win a total of 40.24 points, beating KIA Tigers' Kim Do-young, who ranked second with seven votes for reporters, 242,659 fan votes, and 37.56 points in total. Kang Min-ho, who has not won the monthly MVP award since his debut in 2004, received the honor of winning the award for the first time in 20 years after his debut.

In July, Kang Min-ho's bat had no time to rest. In July alone, he hit 11 home runs to rank No. 1 in the home run category, with a batting average of .480 (third), 26 RBIs (first), and a slugging percentage of .868 (first). Amid Kang Min-ho's performance, Samsung ranks first in team home runs as of the 9th.

Kang Min-ho became the first catcher monthly MVP winner of Samsung with the current voting method (press group + fan voting) newly introduced in 2018. It is the first time in three years that Samsung has won the monthly MVP award since Baek Jung-hyun in July-August 2021.

In fact, I couldn't be relieved. It was because of Kim Do-young, a strong contender. Kim Do-young also showed off his formidable offense in 22 games in July, batting .470 (fourth), 33 hits (joint second), seven home runs (joint second), 21 RBIs (joint second), 25 runs (joint first), and 815 runs (joint second).

Kim has already been named MVP in April and June. The June Prime Minister caught the eye. In fact, in the press corps vote at the time, it ranked third after Kiwoom Heroes Kim Hye-sung and Lotte Wilkerson. However, with the tremendous support of the fans, it created a great reversal. So Kang Min-ho was also able to be overturned by fan voting, but he kept the No. 1 spot with the overwhelming power of the press corps voting. In actual fan voting, Kim Do-young received nearly twice as many votes.

Kang Min-ho, who was selected as MVP in July, will be given a trophy along with 2 million won in prize money, and 2 million won in donations will be delivered to Pohang Steel Middle School, Kang Min-ho's alma mater, under the name of the player with the support of Shinhan Bank.
