Kim Joong-heon (55), a Taekwondo professor at Yongin University, has been appointed as the chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) announced on the 19th that it will appoint Kim Joong-heon, a professor of Taekwondo at Yongin University, as the chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. The new chairman's term is three years.

Kim Joong-heon, a Taekwondo practitioner, was a master and doctor of sports management at Minnesota State University in the U.S. and has been a professor of Taekwondo at Yongin University since 2005, serving as chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation's Poomsae Subcommittee (2018~) and secretary-general of the Asian Taekwondo Federation (2013~2015), and during his tenure as secretary-general of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation from 2015 to 2018, he attracted the '2017 World Taekwondo Championship' and contributed to revitalizing the Taekwondo Institute.

Culture Minister Yoo In-chon said, `The Taekwondo Promotion Foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. I hope Kim Joong-heon, the new chairman of the board, will work hard to make a new leap forward and change Korea's taekwondo around the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation."
