Hanwha Eagles Ryu Hyun-jin is back as LG killer.

Ryu Hyun-jin started in the home game against the LG Twins at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on the 13th and recorded two hits, two walks and six strikeouts in five innings, and was replaced with a requirement to win seven games of the season.

It is the first time in two months that Ryu Hyun-jin went down the mound without losing a point since the match against Kiwoom in Cheongju (eight scoreless innings) on June 18.

Ryu Hyun-jin, who has been sluggish in the last two games, was more worried than expected about the LG match.

Ryu Hyun-jin became a winning pitcher against KT Wiz on July 31, but he had 12 hits (one home run), one walk, three strikeouts and six runs (five earned) in five innings, and he became a losing pitcher against the Samsung Lions on the 7th with 12 hits (one home run), two walks, three strikeouts and seven runs in five innings. In particular, in the match against Samsung, the team scored six points in the first half, but Ryu Hyun-jin gave up one point in the fourth inning and lost six points in the fifth inning.

Ryu Hyun-jin was the strongest against LG before leaving for the United States, but LG has changed these days.

Ryu Hyun-jin won 98 games before going to the U.S., and won 22 games against LG alone. He also had a very good ERA of 2.36. The team that won its first professional debut was against LG (April 12, 2006 with 10 strikeouts in seven ⅓ innings), and 17 strikeouts (one run and a complete victory in nine innings in Cheongju on May 11, 2010) in the KBO League regular innings were also achieved against LG, which had many good memories.

But it's not LG back then. It became a team that hit enough to rank first in team batting average (0.279) last year and won the title for the first time in 29 years. Ryu Hyun-jin met LG in the opening match of Jamsil on March 23 and experienced the strength of LG's batters firsthand by becoming a losing pitcher with six hits, three walks, 0 strikeouts and 5 runs (two earned runs) in 3 ⅔ innings.

However, Ryu Hyun-jin on the day was determined to shake off his recent slump.

He was nervous when he gave up a straight walk to Hong Chang-ki, the leader, in the top of the first inning, but he immediately showed off his good pitching by catching Shin Min-jae and Austin Moon Bo-kyung, who have recently shown good batting performance. In the top of the second inning, Park Dong-won was walked with two outs, but Park Hae-min was grounded out in front of the shortstop. In the top of the third inning, he gave up his first hit to Shin Min-jae after two outs, but struck out Austin. In the top of the fourth inning, he finished with his first three-out and continued his good pitching.

Ryu Hyun-jin, who often threw hard in the fifth inning, also made Park Dong-won, the leader of the team, worry for a while in the top of the fifth inning, but showed his strength to strike out both Park Hae-min and Koo Bon-hyuk and Hong Chang-ki.

He pitched 87 pitches until the fifth inning. Since he had to take the mound on Sunday, he was replaced by Park Sang-won with a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

Ryu Hyun-jin threw 39 fastballs of up to 149km on the day, and threw eight 147km of two-seam and six 140km cutters. He added 23 114km curves and 11 128km changeups to completely overwhelm LG's batters.
